  • yeah pretty much & a bit more stack.

columbus spirit & max rear end

  • Tasty! Looking forward to seeing the build.

  • Cheers, should be 105, zip finishing kit (obvs) and will use my Chris king wheels from my caad (for now anyway)

Not giving me much time to think about colour is he? Haha. Where in London would mind me looking at their ral charts?

Can I use gxp sram force22 with 105? So I can transfer teh powerz

  • Chainset? Should work. Zipp have changed their drop bars, which puts me in a real conundrum when it comes to new bars.

  • how do we feel about RAL 6027?

worried it might look a bit "sweet baby blue fixie" but with gears and mudguards

  • Lolwut. He took over two weeks to start mine despite saying he could start two days later. Congrats.

  • Have you been following this build?
I'm not sure on the exact colour but may help.

  • Any news? Lots of Rychtarskis happening now!

  • very happy with it

  • Love the colour

  • Not a big fan of disc myself but long drop calipers are the worst.

Long drop calipers are fine, pretty powerful actually.

  • any recommendations for a rear rack and panniers?

It is only every going to be used for fairly small lightweight trips that would have otherwise been done bikepacking. Am after a lightweight solution..

  • tubus fly

  • do I need to worry about heel clearance at all? small frame, small rack?

  • Seat them as far back as possible and don't buy massive things that are wide at the bottom.
I ride a 49 cm frame and dont have any problems.

  • This.

Lightest and strongest for the money, unless you go for the titanium one.

  • I do like titanium, probably a little pricey and unnecessary though

  • It is when the Tubus already weighs a modest 350g.

Heel clearance is only an issues if you have those cheap panniers that can't be set further back.

  • wish the tubus fly had the proper mounts rather than the single that has to be bent into shape but it does look like the best option thanks all

  • I'd have a look at the Tubus Vega if I were you. Only about 40g heavier, has a 7kg extra load carrying capability ( 25kg vs 18kg ), allows you to set the panniers 10mm further back than the fly and also has twin struts to attach to your rack mounts.

  • where are you getting the weights from? lm seeing it as being 150g heavier

  • Ah, I'm not taking mounting hardware into account.

    Fly ( classic )

    Material: 25CroMo4
    Wheel size: unisize 26"/28"
    Weight: ca. 341 g
    Mounting parts: ca. 67 g
    Additional load: 18 Kg

    Vega ( classic )

    Material: 25CrMo4
Wheel size: unisize 26"/28" oder 29"
    Weight: ca. 375 g
    Mounting parts: ca. 138 g
    Additional load: 25 Kg

So a total of 408g for the Fly and 513g for the Vega. These weights are approximate, as I've had two of the same Tubus rack before that had a 50g weight difference.

Bear in mind that you'd probably add these additional offset stays to the Fly, to make use of the rack mounts you have. Personally, I just reckon the Vega is a better rack and the Fly is best used for bikes without proper rack mounts :-)

  • I think the rest of the difference is probably the mounting hardware. EDIT too slow

  • My 49cm all city nature boy with Tubus Fly.
Works absolutely fine with the ortleib city panniers; they are the smaller versions made for front low rider rack. I regret not going for the bigger panniers but these were cheap.
