Hey, sorry to dig this up, where have you seen this?
I've got a bike going back to wiggle under warranty because apparently it can't cope with an emergency stop. I'm still not quite sure if to push for refund/replacement, it's only three months old 😣

wow! what frame is that? vitus substance?
-
• #9181
What's going on in there, is that a normal approach to carbon tubes.. just seems like it's going to fail again but probably outside of warranty next time! Would be refunding..

@bigshape @spinnnout it's an alloy Vitus Energie :(
-
• #9184
wow
-
• #9185
Alloy? Christ, I had heard the carbon ones can crack, but not the alloy! Scary stuff

That looks like someone got a bit enthusiastic with the torch and probably overheated the tube. Definitely a warranty case.

Whats the difference between this

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FOSELCXV3DP/selcof-carbon-cx-disc-brake-forkOther than the price and product code? (second link has DP at the end of the product code). I'm looking for a carbon tapered fork with guard mounts and ~385mm ac and this looks like it would fit the bill

Mine is still going strong over rocks and ruts. Stress crack in the weld, ask for a refund
-
• #9189
Urgh the curse of the Vitus Energie! I'm on my 4th carbon frame.
I would push for a refund. Are you going to feel safe riding another?

C02 and a pump!

And what a pump. For your 42mm tires.

Kind of have to respect it for its absurdness.

Been ages since I've used a bike with more than one chainring, but isn't the long cage superfluous? It kinda tops it off for me. Or is it the MTB platform pedals. I just can't decide.
All of the South Downs way is doable and utterly gorgeous.
But if all else fails you can always drop off the North side and nail some B roads that follow parallel. That's a bit trickier towards the Eastbourne end though.
