I run 1x using Shimano 105 levers, really don't notice the play in the left lever under general riding conditions, it really isn't much of a problem. Also gives you summat to play with on long flat sections when you don't need to shift or brake. If I had the coin though, I'd go SRAM, just because I like their shifters.

Moreso if it's fine when it's hooked up to the front derailleur, can't see why it shouldn't be when not hooked up.

Ditto, with ultegra. Not a problem.
Would quite like Rival 1x on that bike at some point.
1x eTap when? They’d sell shitloads.

Anyone tried gravelking SK 700x38 tyres?
-
• #3806
They’ve got an eagle version on pro bikes just just but that’s 12speed.
Shouldn’t be long though I’d think.

Fancy chainring ratios.

I have the 40mm ones, excellent tyres. Swapped from Knards, which punctured nearly every ride, gravel kings have gone once in nearly a year of use. Also have the 32mm gksk on my Pacer, love them too. Can't see me using any other tyres for a while.

700x35s are super plush / grippy

Anyone on the Maxxis Re-Fuse, may give them a go
Seem to come in 32 or 40mm flavour -

No, but I love the 32mm and 43mm versions, and have just fitted 28mm ones to my road bike.
Can't see me using any other tyres for a while.
^ this.

Got the 35s. Turns out the non tubeless aren't great tubeless. Go figure.
Got them on the commuter. Roll nice. Not as quick as a g one. Better off road than the g ones. What do you want them for?

Got 4 days of gravel riding in th Tatra Mountains in Poland coming up end of May. Biggest I tyres I can get on my 700c wheels in my Talbot is 38’s so looking at the GK SK’s, as they’re not too pricey, and come in gum wall flavour. I will be running with tubes.
From the comments so far they seem to be decent, so will give them a go!

why not tubeless?

I hate tubeless.

I've been on the 40mm version tubeless for a year, they've been great. Might go to something more 35ish and lighter but not until these wear out completely.

I heart tubeless, especially for gravel!

You can run latex tubes in 38mm tyres no problem. I do it, I like it.
It’s a cool story I know.

What do you do when you need to put mud tyres on? New bike time?
-
• #3820
He’s got that torraghar(sp)
Just chuck new wheels at for maximum baller.

Anyway, here's mine pre dirty reiver. Excuse the terrible cabling

most of my riding is road - if I'm riding gravel for any length of time (ie, more than the odd road here or there) then it'll be a planned ride on gravel as dry as I can get it.
I hate riding wet gravel as it kills bikes. Last time I wore through a set of fairly new metal pads in 30km. The entire group was beset by mechanicals.
Besides, putting some new tires on a tubeless wheelset isn't really much of a ball ache. Not as much of a ballache as walking 5 miles cause you've used all 4 of your tubes on pinch flats or getting smashed around cause you have to run high pressure to avoid said pinch flats.
-
• #3823
All true. Did you try latex? They seem to pinch far less easily (and are fast/supple). I still can’t safely go much below 45psi on rocky stuff (I’m 60kg).

I tried latex years ago on my road bike and both of them went bang 3/4 hours after installation. Dodgy tubes or dodgy installation (more likely) but it put me off and i never bothered again.
I rode the dirty reiver last week at 35 psi on my g ones and i'm 95kg - pretty plush.

How’s do you find the composit so nose down? I find I slip forward if it’s that far down and it puts loads of pressure on hands?
I’m going to order what size I think in to try. See how it goes.
