why did you vote for brexit if you didnt want this sort of price rise then?

Am I reading this right? The new one weighs 1,399 and the old one (from 12 years ago) weighed 1,599 with derailleur hanger and seat collar? Functionally who is going to notice 200g on a cyclocross bike? And the new one costs over £1k more? Bike-flation is ridiculous.

I guess I thought we would get £350m a week for the NHS and cut net migration to zero

Surly Ogre maybe?

Are you seriously asking about noticing weight on a bike forum? People spend ££££ to reduce the weight of bikes/parts. There's rarely any science/logic behind the choices and as we all know these days they'd have probably been better off spending the money on a wind tunnel session, coach or dietician.

Also, the old one uses QR, not thru-axles and what tyre clearance does it have? Presumably fuck all because it was a CX bike not a gravel bike vs 47mm and up to 2.1” on a 650b wheel.

What are we arguing about?

You're having a whinge that the price of some new Spesh isn't justified.
I'm kind of trying to justify it even though there's no fucking way I'd pay it myself.
Conclusion: we're both wasting electricity

Good summary

I reckon I know wtf is going on. It was a Campag build. The wheel still has Campagfuckno end caps on it and so measures wider than Shimano (because why?) and that's pushing the frame a bit wider.
The sooner Campag goes out of business the fucking better.
EDIT, confirmed by Mason
"The Campagnolo N3W freehub is narrower than the standard Shimano, so needs the longer
endcap - which is 2mm longer. This is to allow the smaller 9t & 10t sprockets on the cassette.
The new Shimano Microspline is the same.It should be one that says E16 on the driveside with a Shimano HG freehub (or Sram XDR)."
I guess no one noticed when the conversion was initially done as it was probably running her other wheels.

Anyone looking to move a 61 crux on?

Going to need to see some more Arkose love soon, or I'll have to change the title again

Come on, Phil. Keep the dream alive!

Arkose has had a few tire changes here. 45mm Cinturatos and new commuter-mode Terreno Zeros are both brilliant...lipstick red bartape is temporary while I play around with bars

Sorry to derail the thread from an important topic, but has anyone done the "Route YC Adventure Weekender" (??) aka the Yorkshire Coast Dirt Dash.
https://www.routeyc.co.uk/adventure-weekender
I'm booked to do it next weekend and wondered if there was any intel that could be sent my way. Planning to drive to Filey then ride the loop to Whitby, overnight there and travel back down to Filey.

That's still £4500 over here, right? Fucking mad when you can buy a whole Crux with 150g heavier frame for half that.
-
• #31047
What was the old price in AUSD?
I mean I did get the Sworks but for the paint over the weight and UK don’t have 10R frameset 🤷♂️ -
• #31048
No idea, but that price is still about £4200 currently.
I'd rather take my £2500 saving and get mine custom painted. I'd definitely get a "S-Works" logo added just to wind up everyone with an actual S-Works.

• #31049
You could get 1.5 Crocketts for that!

Excellent Arkose. You're doing it right
It's not like the hub is pushing the frame wider - it fits as it should. I think the axle is too short.
