New steel is always appealing, then I look at the weight of even a fancy frameset. I do quite like that you can dent steel and it might not kill you.

It depends what riding you're doing. I own and ride everything (except Ti and I'd ride that if I ever saw it cheap enough)

I've killed 2 x nice carbon frames now through chain drop and general clumsiness. Both fixed for not a lot and still running great. ESG Gravel.

This is true. I'll clarify by saying "Crux frame". My poor Stanton has the battle scars but it's rock solid... for now.

I'm definitely putting S-Works stickers on my Crux, just to fuck with people that care. Maybe change the Crux stickers to Sux too.

No worries, those guards are very nicely made and I would recommend them, not a weight weanie but excellent at the job in hand and also provide the coverage which a lot don't!

Sux sticker would be awesome!
