  • Fantastic build. Goes to show just how good the frame designers are and how much the graphic designers can cock it up.

  • Ha ha, I'm a product designer myself and we also do the graphics. I'll let you know when the next relevant product is out so you can see if I've cocked it up in the final stage too :)

Anyway, I got inspired by the ride today and knew I had som proper photos laying around. It's from when it had the 2x10 on in winter training mode, although with race wheels just for show.

  • Hah! "Can" being the operative word. It seems a particular problem with Specialized, Cannondale and Trek

  • Wow, lovely Cruz... how are the tyres holding up... 40c's are massive!

  • I haven't been able to put in crazy amount of miles on the tyres, so I'm not sure how they wear, but they seem to hold up well.

Ride is great. They roll really well on smoother surfaces, but still gives decent traction on the trails. When you're used to cross tires, the added volume makes you more able on the singletracks, but when it gets really wet they might get a bit slippy. I opted for the race version so they're pretty light – yet still no punctures.

  • Nice! Does that mint have a RAL colour code?

  • 6019 Weißgrün

  • Nice, I think I might be able to fit them on my steed as well so I'll look out for them

  • Kit shoot with the club. This bike!

  • Nice bike, kit and progression! Look forward to seeing more of this.

  • Looks absolutely great.

  • One with current setup. Old Red crank with Wolftooth 38t ring and CX1 rear mech. Getting an 11-32 when I need a new cassette – otherwise this is perfect. Roughly 7,5kg.

  • Looks like the downscaling messes up the picture. Try this: https://lfgss.microcosm.app/api/v1/files/030c3f8cb629a9d93987966ee7ebe49a414fba25.png

  • How's the paint job holding up to riding cx?
    Photos look immensely good.

  • Driveside chainstay is a bit rough a few places (rear wheel fell out of the dropouts once, plus some chainslap before CX1 mech. Rest looks real nice.

  • Did some changes this winter. Force crankset and CX1 ring, 11-36 cassette, new plushy Compass tires, King Cage Ti, and a Fizik cockpit. Also went into detail swapping out that ugly Specialized seatpost clamp with a minimal one from Carbon Ti and a cable stopper from Surly. Still enjoy this bike so much.

  • Looking good... changed over to a Force crankset myself a while ago, it's pretty bombproof and saves a bit of weight as well

  • Time to give this bike a makeover. It's good as it is, really, but I sort of miss the feel of it being as light as it was when I was racing it. So during winter I sold the heavy Ultegra/Archetype wheels I built previously and started looking for something else. That got me thinking that maybe I could shave some weight other places too. I'm not going total weight weenie, but the following will be geeky stuff.

So starting with the saddle/seatpost combo. I've always liked both Aliante and Thomson, but it was obvious that I could make a difference here. 460 grams, half on each. So I took a look at what I already had, and found the old S-Works carbon seatpost. Never liked those graphics, so sanded it down and gave it a couple of coats of satin black. Much better.

  • Then I ended up buying a Tune Speedneedle Marathon, weighing in at a nice 105 grams. I have no idea if I will like it or not, but the shape looks similar to the Aliante. Replaced the S-Works bolts for the seatpost with a titanium pair from ebay to end up at a total of 288 grams.

That's a 173 shaved off, and I think it looks promising too. Will be interesting to see it on the bike.

The wheel parts were ordered yesterday, so will update when things start to arrive.

  • Still dreamy.

  • Got mail today. 20/24 Forza and CX Ray spokes. Hubs should arrive early next week, which is making me very excited. Hint: ordered at R2 🤓
