Probably just going to make it work with 5800 brakes. They seem to clear 28c, but haven't got a pair so I haven't measured yet. Still som tinkering to be done...
They do clear 28mm, 30mm Strada Bianca even, the Columbus Fel defintely have ample clearance with 28mm too, I'll try and fit a 30mm Strada Bianca on it to see how it look and let you know.

Uhhh thank you. Would appreciate that. I had 30c Schwalbe CX pro tyres on 19mm rims mounted in the frame, and there is def enough room ;-)

Armourtex do wet work now too

You had a frame done there? Keen to know a bit more about who's the main go to guy. 50/50 praise and shit talk in the vaz thread. Hard to know what is the right choice. I want it to be a sturdy paint job but also spectacular looking. Cheap is good also, but not crucial.

Any idea how graphic work is done at Vaz and Amourtex? Do you provide you own decals, or do they print foil masking and paint it on the frame?

Not quite as classy but you could go with GP4000s 28c or 4 seasons in 32c

yes and I love gp4k, but I would like to try something new. Also open pave is cheaper on wiggle than gp

Thank you. Know any of his work?

strada bianca have been fantastic tyres for me

Yeah, he's good and a nice guy. I think his instagram has a lot more work on it.

Good to know. I am also really into gum walls, so might pull the trigger on these. Just need to figure out my finances and see what I can afford.

Challenge tyres at 60psi on 19mm internal rims, clearance just about enough.
I'll fit it on my bike with the 105 5800 brakes soon, have a feeling that it might be too big for the brakes.

Thank you Ed. That looks rather tight. Would it fit better on wider runs perhaps? 28c on 23mm rims should be enough for me though, so no biggie if I can't get strada bianchis

Looks like he might be up for doing something special :-) thanks for the tip

I had a frame and fork painted by Armortex - powdercoat for the frame, then wet paint on the fork, and over the powdercoat on the frame. I'm happy enough with the result, I guess, however if you turn the frame upside down there's orange-peel that they didn't bother to sand flat which I find at-odds with the price tag.
They also took absolutely forever to get the job done.

Scratch that, it fit the Genesis Volare perfectly, Engima fork is exactly the same as Columbus.
Just to be clear, 19mm INTERNAL width, not external, the rims I'm riding on is 25mm external.
105 still have clearance.
My bike now look like a spring classic, result.

That is brilliant. Thank you!!!!

You might think about making sure the rims is stiff enough as he flex can rub on the side of the fork, rims I'm using is Mavic A719.

I have been thinking about Kinlin ADHN instead of A23s or Archetypes. A bit cheaper and heavier, but I like the box rim look and I think perhaps I can spend the better on tyres and hubs than on rims...
-
• #74
A23 is weak, Archetype are great all round rims, 17mm internal might be a touch narrow but still better than 13-15mm.

I had A23, no problems while I rode them. Pretty hooked on Kinlin ADHN and at 22gbp I can afford to discard them later if they are crap
Aye, guess so, spraying it is then.
