  • To be honest I've went on the lash instead.

  • ^ good choice.

  • I think I made the right choice. Had another look at the frame this morning. I was excited to see the the headset cups have not been installed so I get to use the press I bought on a whim a while back.

  • Fitted my carbon forks last night, but my gear in a Carradice super c saddlepack, handles so much better.
Will be on the hunt for a fork more suited to carrying a front load for when I go touring.

  • Just waiting on my tyres still. Yodel have lost them. Going to cable it all up today and if i get everything sorted I'll rob some tyres from the road bike. I have tomorrow off so I may try and find some suitable non-road to throw it down.

  • What's wrong with the stock forks?

  • I was so impressed with the colour of mine in the steel @root their promo shots really don't do the paint justice, assuming the burnt orange is a lovely satin as well?

  • Yep it's satin. Nowt wrong with the original, my nitto rack wouldn't reach the mounts, so used straggler fork, which is now in the shed. Running saddlepack and carbon fork, feels fookin awesome, plenty of room for larger tyres up front, Nanos for play time.

  • Just finished the build and put everything away and the Clements have turned up. Haven't got time to swap them as I'm off out just now. Forgot to take a photo at the end but the attached one is close enough.

I like the color and the finish even more now I've hung some bits off it. Quite like the gumwalls as well but the new tyres are all black. The 25c that are on there look tiny though and I've only ordered 28c as a replacement so they may go back for something slightly fatter.

Looking forward to getting out on it tomorrow. Then the mudguards, rack and lights will be going on for commuter mode.

  • Nice!

  • Looks excellent!

  • Lovely stuff.

  • Just been for a short jaunt round the woods on my croix, it's nice on the road but it's an absolute hoot off it...

  • Glad to hear that. The croix looks awesome @TM!

Had to look up hoot in the urban dictionary haha

  • Tyres and tape on.

  • Excuse my poor photography skill and i call myself out on tyre position fail. Still need to fit the rack, guards and lights but I can't face fitting another set of chromoplastics. It's probably my least favourite job to do, with the possible exception of anything to do with cantilevers.

It will also be nice to take it out in sporty mode before its relegation to commuter.

  • Let me know what the tyres are like, very interested. Looks good, they do build up nice.

  • I've had this about a month now and I was getting a bit sick of having a sweaty back so I fitted a rack. I'm not happy with how it fits though, due to the high mounting points at the drop out the rack sits quite a lot higher that I would like it too.

Does anyone know of a rack with a low mount to top distance?

I also tried to fit some chromoplastics (45) but they looked a bit shit because they were so gappy, especially at the fork crown? any suggestions on some guards which might fit better?

  • @root
There's a posting about integrated racks and keeping the rack low and this chap went for an
"Avenir Pioneer Transporter Rack" as the legs that attach to the frame are adjustable so you can lower the rack. No doubt there's others around
    bike looks great btw!
