A terrible situation for sure.

Would never have thought about Rose or CNC to build wheels.
I'd be really interested to hear what the cost is like - I'd planned on having my LBS build my next set around an SP Dynamo so would be interested to see how they compare!

CNC cost 25 euros per wheel, which is cheaper than my LBS. The cost for the rest of the parts are on the website. Rose quoted me a very reasonable price on some wheels a while back but they dont stock the dynamo i want.
The SP dynamo is €89 at CNC, but £95 to buy in the UK.
http://www.cnc-bike.de/product_info.php?cPath=25_307&products_id=12089You do have to pay by bank transfer which all seems a bit odd though.

Any news on frameset?
-
• #31
No, not heard anything back from either of the places I have emailed yet. I should probably try ringing them up instead. I'm half weighting till the g/f is on holiday so that someone will be in to receive the parcel.
I have just received email that payment for my wheels have been received and they should be getting built in the next three days. My next job is to order some tyres, I can't find the the gravel kings in 28c in stock so will probably grab some Clement Stradas instead.

Go on, give em a bell, or you're gonna have a shit load of stuff and no frame to hang it on.

At the minute I've only got the groupset and that's attached to another bike. That said I'm about to order it now.
Did you go 160/140 mm front/ back or 160 all round?
EDIT: Ordered it and the 160mm rotors.

160 all round.

Nice project! Lots of good choices. Re the CNC bank transfer thing it's quite common and no worries when buying from Germany or Austria, I've done it with a bunch of different companies.

Yep, once i'd looked in to it it seemed more common. I used transferwise to avoid bank fees which worked well, I'm not sure how much my bank would of charged though, so maybe it wasn't necessary. It did mean I didn't have to find my card reader which handily misplaces itself every time i need it.
I'd also recommend CNC, they get back to emails really quickly and my wheels are built and were shipped yesterday.
Got
Frame and brakes - both ordered from Freeborn are waiting to be shipped.
Groupset - needs to be stripped from another bike.
Saddle and Seatpost - parts bin
Guards - parts bin
Tape - parts bin
stem - parts binNeed
Tyres - still cant decide between Gravel Kings and the Clement Stradas. The decision is somewhat easier as the Gravel Kings aren't in stock (anywhere I can find them) until June. I think that makes me want them more though.
Cables - Was going to go with Jagwire Road XL but can't find this in stock anywhere either.
Bars - Hoping to rob these off a mate as he is after some narrow ones for his recently purchased OTP -

Just had an email to say the frame is shipped.

Excellent.

Ordered some cables, really only need the bars now and some headset spacers while i dial in the position. I think I'll wait till the gravel kings come back in stock and use the paselas I have at the minute. If I really wanted the Clements I would of bought them by now, I think.

In stock but shipping is 13 quid. Winstanley reckon 2nd of june till they have some.
-
• #42
Ordered some bars and spacers. I think that's everything now (bar the tyres), no doubt I'll of forgotten some minor parts only to find out when I'm mid-build.
I am now at the mercy of the couriers and the postal system. Wish me luck!

Ordered the Stradas.

Haha ;)

Missed the delivery of the frame today, hopefully I can collect it this evening from the depot. Wheels are somewhere between here and Germany. A selection of other packages are moving from around the country, hopefully in my general direction.
Its going to be a long weekend watching the letter box. It looks like I've missed the boat on the do-everything-bike anyway @Velocio seems to be bringing the fixie back and current project thread is full of njs.

Good to hear about CNC! And which frame did you go for in the end?
-
• #47
the wheels were a lot closer than I thought.

I went for the Croix de Fer in the end. My heart sank when I saw the massive hole in the box but the guy at the courier encouraged me to open it up and have a good look at it as it would be easier to reject. Top marks for APC couriers for not being knobs. Anyway the frame is unscathed and much better looking in real life than in photos.
I'm really pleased with CNC as well. The money got to them on Thursday or Friday last week and my wheels are here with me from Germany now. Last time I got the LBS to do it it took that long and I sourced the parts. I have realised I've forgotten rim tape though.

Amazing! Can't wait to see this built up! You went for a 2015 frameset aye?

Great stuff. Crack on then.
Oh noes!
