I'm not sure you'd have enough axle in the dropouts.
That said, I use mine mounted to the inside of the mudguard eyelets. -

Good idea! What size is the one in the pic? 30l?

Serious suggestion for the legions of front rack users I see around town: why not use the damn thing?

I've got 2 racks and have been commuting with backpack over winter. Why? With back pack ready with various paraphernalia I can run out the door and hop on whichever bike I fancy that morning... (been the 2 rack commuter mostly but nice to have options) over winter sweaty back isn't as much as a problem as it is in summer. There will be minimal backpack days once it warms up.

I just think it's wierd how hip they are but I hardly ever see any cargo on them.

What I never get it when you see people with shopping bags hanging from their bars and an empty rack. If i have to do a big shop I take my big panniers and just clip them to the inside of the trolley, fill them up and away you go.

I use mine most of the time, but the ride is better with nothing on the front. So if you want to rip around london's kerbs and bunnyhop your heart out it's better in the backpack

How are you getting on with this? I am debating between this and a Blackbourne outpost front rack.. Is there something else similar I am ignoring at the moment?

It's doing well but hasn't really been properly tested yet. Am planning to ride to Spain (on the Velodyssey) this spring, so that'll see it under a bit of a load over distance and I'll report back after that. I got a pair of Carradice front panniers off eBay to stick on it

I've used a Surly Nice front rack when touring on the tandem - worked great and didn't stiffen up the fork too much. It is heavy, but takes loads of stuff and you can put full size panniers (ie rear panniers) on if you really need the space. The platform on top was useful for hiding the occasional D-lock/flip flops too.

I bought a Blackburn Outpost Front Rack from the Wheelies.com outlet on ebay, for a mere £32 as it was sold without upper fittings
This was before I realized the original fittings are quite specific and rather hard to find in UK, especially at the moment.
Is anyone interested in it for the £32 I spent? Otherwise I will return it, as I can't be arsed to fiddle around to fit it adapting other mounting kits.
Worth to note, this can also be found new for £55/£60, while the mounting kit comes to about £22/£24 if/when in stock

Any recommendations on bags specific for front rack...I like the idea of something like the bag Cass Gilbert is using

Which rack? With or without a basket?

Looking at options for the Pelago Commuter rack but open to basket options...just seems like an underserved niche currently...Seeing options like Inside Line Equipment and Velo Orange but figure there's plenty of opportunity for alternatives, particularly with the healthy ecosystem of bike bag makers.

I have a Chrome duffel. It works for carrying stuff back from tesco on my Soma Porteur, but isn't much cop for commuting duties. If I only had the porteur for commuting then I'd probably go with a bag from BigXTop (aka @jtrent90).

Nice bags but don't seem to have bags specifically for porteur racks (bar bags are a different proposition to porteur rack).
What I'd be look for:
bags designed for common front racks (Wald basket, Pelago rack, Specialized pizza rack)
means of securing it to front rack (preference would be for not requiring a basket)
top loading so you can readily access contents whilst on the bike
waterproof (guess this goes without saying but doesn't hurt to reiterate)Nice to haves
ability to take it off the rack so you can transition from bike to foot (not such an issue for touring but v helpful for everyday use). Alternative is you have a liner bag which can be pulled out
If whole bag can be taken off, would be good to have some optional straps and fixtures so you could carry it over your shoulder
pockets so you can pull items out without opening the main enclosureAny other suggestions?

BigxTop does many more bags than on his website - he's definitely done porteur bags before. Email him and ask. Pretty reasonable prices for a custom bag.

Thanks for the tip
Is that the Airlok 13l or 20l?
And is that a stem cell?
Cheers.
