That chainring is in a bad shape, several tooth missing/damaged
-
• #53
I think that's deliberate
-
• #54
Doesn't seem to be in any particular pattern?
-
• #55
Hah, I lol'd.
-
• #56
Missing teeth are in the same place as the new Middleburn rings I have :)
-
• #57
The pattern is they come directly after the pins.
-
• #58
It's for the shiftz.

I reckon it's more aero that way. Less teeth, more power...

This has moved slower than expected...
Just ordered a black hope pro 2 as the rear hub. So wheel building can begin soon!

This just arrived in all its clicky beauty.
I need a 12mm thru axel to QR adaptor - anyone have one?
All I need now is a saddle, front mech and to get the wheels built and it's ready to ride.
Then I need to think about Dynamo light / usb charging

Think the onversion kit is £10 online.
And for USB charging get a sinewave. Mines been faultless.

I'll have a look. I was tempted by the Busch & Muller luxos u with the intergrated usb charging. But may go for separate lights and charging...

Nice. Did you buy the frame 2nd hand?
Are you aware of this:

Bit late to the party, but I have the the Blackburn (after setting it on this thread, cheers for the tip) and the King cage (not iris) and the king is thicker. 5mm to the Blackburn's 4.2. Blackburn seems good so far, I haven't used it off road yet though.

Don't forget to use cassette with alu carrier on those hubs, or swap them for steel freehub body.
-
• #70
Why's that?
How does one tell - do cheaper, or more expnsive cassettes tend to be alu?
-

So after languishing for 4 months, I've got this project moving again.
Bits for the wheels went to Arup to be built last night and I've bought a pair of folding WTB Nanos to go on this - like this one below:
All that's left is to buy bar tape, cables & saddle and then stick it all together!
Thinking dark grey or very dary grey blue for bar tape...
Further down the road need to think about Dynamo lights

alu = lighter.
however, the disadvantage is that the cheaper cassette without a carrier bite into it, and can make removal difficult.
Not a problem per se, as you usually need to wack it out or use two cassette removal to twist it out.

Not a problem per se
It will be eventually. I've seen more than a few freehubs need to be replaced due to worn out splines (whilst still on OG bearings).
Also replacing freehubs can be problematic on older hubs (I'm looking at you Easton and Mavic).

Luckily very easy to removed on the Hope, hell take about a couple minutes and no tools.

More parts ordered!
Does anyone have a beater Arione they would like to part with?
Sorted my crankset / rings.
