Which parts for the Moots...?
-
• #303
Pretty much switching all the stuff from the old Moots.. Bought R8070 direct mount callipers, need to re-cable them and also need solid axles and new end-caps for the wheels. New GS once I save up the pennies.. Should be nice :)

Did I miss something? What’s the difference between this and old moots?
-
• #305
Mm depends how you look at it ;)
It's still the Routt but to my specs. So 1cm longer HT so no spacer need. New thru axles and direct mount calipers. New Moots fork. Fittings for both racks and muddies. Routing for both mechanical and Di2.
So basically not a huge difference but made to my spec and it's something I've wanted since it came out and hopefully a life long keeper.
And it makes me happy :) -

Slowly slowly.. Which also means I have a set of post-mount Shimano BR-R785 calipers for sale. Cheers. T

Hey there.
So it's been cleaned and Carnauba waxed within an inch of its life. Paint is decent button amazing. Doesn't really matter though as it still does what it should..
Bought new rear dropout adjuster screws, NOS DA down-tube cable guides, a Sugino seat post binder (Shimano never made any) and Ti cage bolts. It's currently away having the BB shell chased and faced.
Now I'm debating about some Hylix or Columbus Minimal carbon forks and also a treadless 1" HS. The groupset and wheels I yet need to decide about..
I think it's going to be a bit of a long-term project as currently the Moots is the first priority!
Will post some pics once it's back from the LBS and I have time.
Cheers. T -

any progress with Moooots...?

Cheers boys. Yeah that BRP bag is the best thing ever, can literally handle any load you throw at it. Talbot will hopefully be back with its maker soon and have some mudguard eyelets/holes installed. Absolutely love it.
Moots is awaiting a Carbonice seat post clamp and a 160mm rear brake adaptor from r2-bikes. Never knew clamps can be this expensive but worth the weight saving ;) Replaced some of the bolts with Ti ones.. Yup it's going weight-weenie..! T -

A little bit long in the wheelbase department but means it should take 25c tyres nicely if nothing else :) If anyone has a modern DA or Ultegra groupset I'm all ears :) Thanks. Tom

I foresee a new GS at the end of this year but this needs properly ridden first :)

So today was a good day. Weather fantastic, not working for once (bar on my portfolio) and also the maiden cycle for Routtie.
Still needs a bit of setup but runs beautifully. Fits perfectly right from the start so couldn't ask for more. The ride is amazingly smooth but surprisingly lively and responsive, I think they've fettled with the forks and geo a bit making for a much more road-geo ride. Almost feels like my V1, like you can chuck it around and it'll do anything you ask of it. But it weighs a tonne less ;)
Brakes are a bit spongy so that's going to be a job for the LBS who set them up..
Few pics below, sorry for their crap quality. Close ups of of Parlee front mech clamp, Carbone ST clamp and King Ti cages :)
I've decided I definitely need different tyres though. The roads are absolutely atrocious around here, not to mention the lanes. And I always find myself in the middle of a field or path and as can be imagined these road numbers don't do well there. Any suggestions for some 28c gravel type numbers? I don't want anything huge or with high rolling resistance as I still do about 75% on the roads.
And I think an Easton EC90-SL 110mm stem will be coming next week, need to swap the Thomson out! -
