  • Ordered some more stuff:

    Kinlin XC-279

Some hubs from Tiawan, which come in at under 300g for a set.

    And a 130mm Uno Stem,

Also bought a 120mm system six stem, just because it was cheap.

Cables next, i'm wondering about Alligator iLinks. Also wondering if its worth getting Ti axles for my speedplays.

  • Where's the stem from?

  • Get some Ti bolts for that stem son!

Also, if you get some Ti axles, give me a shout and we can combine shipping.

  • Cheers - ordered

  • Can you acetone the decals?

  • Will decide on what length I need, then order the bolts.

RE: The axles, I could order them now, i'm just slight scared about destroying my pedals in the process.

  • DONT because guess who has got a spair two pairs with no customs ;) pm me

  • I thought that may have been you that bought that stem!

  • There has been a few recently, no 130mm though. The one I bought was only £18, so it was hard to say no.

  • Ti spindles??

    Talk to me

  • I ended up getting a 120mm one from the chap who had the white full frameset for sale on eBay.

  • I nipped home at lunch to take a load of photos of the stuff I currently have, which I will post later.

In the mean time, I've been looking at cables, I am thinking I might try the Yokozuna Reaction cables. They're much more cost effective that i-links or Nokon, and I wonder if i'd even notice the difference? I suppose in weight...

On the subject of cables @Dammit does the frame just take normal inline adjusters? I know you removed yours for use with the i-Links

  • I've also not made my mind up about cables yet. Do iLinks really represent a vast improvement on decent compressionless like Yokozuna?

  • They do give you the option of getting your cable length perfect, no problems if you cut it too short etc.

The i-Links I've got on my Genesis move noticeably when you squeeze the brake though.

  • Do iLinks really represent a vast improvement.

It's significant on smaller frame with very tight radius.

  • So not in my case then...

  • but almost definitely in mine.

Thanks Scwables, you've justified my buyers desire.

  • schwalbe? eh?

  • Misspelling Scobles' name. It brings me joy.

  • No, but for that kid ^, yep.

  • Can't tell you about yokozuna but can give you my thoughts on iLinks, what ed said about tight radius' is very true, helps the rear mech cable especially on sram. I do like the fact that you can have a compresionless, fully sealed system too, and after an initial investment, re-doing you cables becomes very cheap, it'd make a lot of sense on a CX bike. But it doesn't feel quite like a finished product, for example the cable ends could be done a lot better, also there is an initial "bedding in period", where you have to adjust your cable adjusters, much more so than you do with normal cables. I know you use sram too so you know the front derailleur needs a cable adjuster, and if you have to use an inline one, it becomes an utter pita with the links. I'd happily pay more if they could make an inline adjuster that works with the links and sort out the entry points to mechs, brakes etc.

I'd happily pay even more than that if yokozuna could make their liner replacable

  • Yokozuna, looks like a winner then. I know @clevermike got a dremel for his birthday so that should means some nice straight cuts on the cables, the grey will also match the frame well.

  • Do bear in mind that they're very heavy!
