It does look suspect doesn't it?!

That's quite extraordinary, and all caused by high speed and being catapulted over the rim of the centre of the roundabout here:
They don't show the CCTV of the moment of impact from the inside of the hall, but it seems very fortunate that no-one but the driver was injured, as there were dozens of people inside.
It's the second time a driver has crashed into this hall, although the last time it wasn't this high up on the wall, and they don't say if the roundabout was involved.

That must've been giving it a formidable quantity of beans.

Bloody hell

It was an idiot in a Mercedes C class going 200 in a 90 zone.
Extremely fortunate that nobody inside was killed.
Ban the driver for life. It's not the car's fault, or the intersection's fault, or the weather's fault. It's 100 % the driver's fault.

It's not the car's fault
It is a bit. 200 should be the wrong side of a speed limiter.
-
• #1110
'90 zone' implies kilometers per hour.
'200' would be around 120-5 miles per hour.
I thought high power cars in the EU were limited to 300km/h or 180ish mph. -

It's about time the German government stopped recommending a max speed of 130kph and made it the law and then the speed limiter can be set to match. The car should have been limited to 90 anyway if it was in a 90 zone.

Nope. 100% the operator.
Is a knife responsible for a stabbing?
-
• #1113
A gun isn't responsible for a shooting but I'm still a supporter of banning the sale of them to as many people as possible.
-
• #1114
Absolutely, I'm not disagreeing with that element and am with you on guns, but I think that removing even the tiniest bit of 'responsibility' from the human behind the wheel (assuming no defects with the car/medical incidents etc) is the wrong road to go down (unfortunate choice of words) - it continues the acceptance of mad destruction as 'just part of the price we pay to have cars'

A photo from the scene appeared to show the Route 19 bus having smashed into the front of a bike shop, at the junction of popular shopping street King’s Road, and Beaufort Street.
The shop affected is a branch of Velorution:

"London Fire Brigade has warned of ‘heavy traffic’ in the area"
Is that referring to the bus?

Here's a dramatic video:
(It's not particularly dramatic.)

Bloody great effort there

That website counts as a car crash too.

There are some more pictures and a video of that car from up the thread here.

Not a building, but more self driving cars (are they self aware as well?) hitting pedestrians.
https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/23514431.teen-critical-condition-hit-car-glasgow/Glasgow has reasonably high number of drivers striking pedestrians and other road users with their vehicles, but the last 3 months has been much much higher. Everyone (cyclist and commuters) has all been saying since 2021 the amount of agro on the roads is far worse, but seen a noticable increase in pedestrians being hit (and reported on) in local papers, worst was two pedestrians (one fatal at scene IIRC) in seperate incidents a few hours apart on same street or at least within sight. Anyone else seeing an increase in this in their areas?

Is it self driving or just bad reporting about being hit by a car and not a person driving a car? Only mention of self driving is in the comments as far as I can tell. Not that it's good but if it was self driving there'd be a lot of information about what happened from all the on board cameras so less need to track down a lorry driver.

Thanks. There's a thread for non-cycling crashes that may interest you:

It's evidently a comment by BrickMan on sloppy writing.
There's no way a place with a sign that reads "For your eyes only - Video Club" is selling anything other than wank fodder shirley?
