Gonna be a long day if the racing stays like this

They weren't kidding when they said it would be a rest day

Someone to jump on/before/just after the second climb and steal it from the sprinters?
-
• #39957
Hopefully this means we’ll get some fireworks tomorrow.

The Muro di Ca del Poggio is steep enough to drop the best sprinters. The unknown is whether the 50 kms remaining to the finish is enough to stop them getting back or not to contest it.

this break may as well be coasting
Who’s going to win then? Distinct lack of predictions today.

Van der pool to spice it up again and steal a reduced sprint, if he has any beans left

Fair enough. Or mind games at their finest 😅

Did Hindley have a mechanical?
-
• #39965
Puncture apparently. Inside the 3km.

Is this like when someone gets dropped in a crit, then claims a lap out for a puncture. Big hiss as they let the air out when swapping wheels...(before the rule change, obvs).
Reminds me of when Viviani "punctured" towards the final points race of the 2018London World Cup omnium. Bike got whipped away so quickly and his spare just so happened to have a bigger gear on for the final sprint!

last GT for ARE CAV? Now off to gravel?
-
• #39968
Hate those lap out rules - if you run tyres that can't survive a race, tough shit. Riders that don't have spares shouldn't be at a disadvantage to those that do.

also a premise of many vlogs

I did wonder, what if it was shit positioning or handling that caused a mechanical like a puncture. Makes me think back to Sagan getting multiple punctures in an olympic XC race I think it was?
-
• #39971
It's only applied to track racing now which seems fair enough
-
• #39972
I thought the US still did it (maybe only the bigger pro events) and I haven't raced a crit since I left Oz so god knows what goes on these days. I just assume everyone is busy "winning" Zwift

I'll take the Norway constant downhill one please.
I enjoyed his approach yesterday
