Pippo’s bike’s been nicked!

That whole part of France and Belgium has so many people passing through that theft is relatively common if you've got stuff worth nicking. The times I've gone to the UK with a bike, I tend to use a hotel in Calais where the CRS (French elite paramilitary police) stay as I'm sure it's not worth anyone trying to steal anything from a hotel where the police are staying in force with their mobile armouries there too.

DSM rider management quality development program update: Benoot out.
-
• #37507
Where's he heading?
He doesn't seem to have developed much during his time there, it's still not clear what type of rider he is and his results have been average at best.
-
• #37508
No idea yet, he was supposed to stay until end of next season.
He was such a promising rider in his Lotto days, indeed. Makes me wonder why DSM are so confident/rigid in their approach to rider development as it doesn't seem to pay off that much and riders seem to get unhappier instead of better.

If he's off to DQS, he'll be winning monuments in no time.

it's still not clear what type of rider he is
To me, he is fairly clearly a rider for the Spring classics, who has lost direction by trying to become a stage racer.
-
• #37511
You could argue he’s a better stage race rider than he is a one day rider: 2nd and 5th on GC at Paris-Nice, 4th on GC at Tirreno, 4th on GC at the Tour de Suisse.
-
• #37512
What do you think though?
-
• #37513
I think he could do both, focus on week long stage races and the hillier spring classics. He doesn't have a fast enough finish to win a lot, but he's consistent and would gain a team a decent haul of points. He's never going to be a GT GC contender, so a team like DSM, who aim to win stages, should actually work well for him.

Big move at Movistar, signing up current Deceuninck-Quickstep Dr José Ibarguren Taus, and Leonardo Pieopoli who tested positive for CERA and was banned whilst Ibarguren was his team doc at Saunier Duval.

Hasn’t he said exactly this every year for the past four years?
He’s done anyway, just three wins in the past two seasons and two of those were absolute chippers.

You've dabbled in the dark arts (Grupetto)
Ghent is on November 16-21.
Be there, or be, probably a lot more sober.
