Everyone will be peaking for then though.

But it is form we're talking about, whatever the reason for it or the lack of it. I don't know what he can do to catch up and I don't know what state his damaged muscles are in, all I'm saying is I would bet that he knows his peak will last less time than normal while he's recovering and so will be using all the races up until the tdf as training, so it's not a surprise he's slow right now.

Skinny; if he had won the UAE tour we'd have said we can judge something from that performance so I think it's reasonable to judge something from what he's actually done (given that the race isn't over yet) and what we can judge is that he is a long way from being a race winner and thoughts of the Tour this year look optimistic at best.

So do we think Pog has peaked too early? Unless his coach is a dimwit, this is him using UAE as a training tour, too.
-
• #31056
He's with the UAE team, it's not an unimportant race for them. He wouldn't want to end up lodging with Princess Latifa.
-
• #31057
Yeh, fair point. He just looks so comfortable at the front of the race.

• #31058
I'm sure we'll see form heroics from Chris Froome soon.

• #31059
Vingegaard looks a bit like Chris Horner, I wonder if that aided the confusion

I do like the content that Flanders Classics put out

Bad news for @hillbilly. :)

Very much, Flanders really is bike racing region #1 and the way they live it is wonderful to see

Going back a topic, has Froome put in a noteable performance since his crash? I can’t recall one.
I think it’s pretty impressive the recovery he has made. That said belief alone isn’t going to win him a GT. I’m currently in the best, and incredible as it was, is behind him camp. -
• #31066
He was capable of pulling some pretty aggressive moves as well, would like to see him really going for it
-
• #31067
he was doing little baby watts when he got dropped at UAE yesterday

• #31068
Peak Froome vs peak Pogacar, would be so good. I guess we don't really know what peak Pogacar is yet though. I missed the ventoux chat but since we're on gc, Bernal looked incredible there.

Froome's run of bad form continues, he was nowhere in that sprint. Even his domestique Greipel beat him.
-
• #31070
I thought Greipel returned? Looks like Israel is the new EF

Cracking finish last year with Kragh Andersen barreling in behind them.

Class. I love this race, I think it must have been the first spring classic I watched or something.
Just wrangled my way into afternoon beers tomorrow too. -

Alex is wrong, it is definitely a chipper.
-
• #31075
wtf is a chipper
It’s not form though. This is muscle damage. All the while his competitors have been training consistently.
What training do you think he can do – that no-one else is doing – to catch up?
