  • Not common use in road cycling? Generally used in MTB when you've got a gap between your knee pads and shorts

  • It could be, but I've not heard it before.

As someone who has similarly proportioned arms as Froome, I feel his pain.

  • Did anyone happen to watch Clasica de Almeria? Just seen some of it on the turbo and it seemed the crashiest race I’ve ever witnessed. Loads of guys coming down on straight flat stretches of road.

  • Tried. The coverage up to the last 10k was crap, mostly pictures of the sea or greenhouses. No km or time gap ticker, then comms were down, very difficult to follow!

Did seem very crashy also, but I think most races this year so far have featured more crashes than usual.

  • This new GCN+ channel - will it have all the races that I currently watch on Eurosport?

    https://welcome.globalcyclingnetwork.com/gcnplus_en?fbclid=IwAR0daRoIGIhGKUJMvwuDbxnLfqCSRs5dncEBuNaHd6fLEdec3Gei8l9fqtU

  • I use a projector to screen sports, can GCN be streamed through a browser?

    Considering ditching Eurosport, too.

  • also does GCN+ have a samsung TV and android TV app ?

where is our resident GCN+ expert (and also who is it)

  • what is the benefit of GCN > Eurosport?

  • the website has icons for Android, Samsung tv, Amazon fire, and Chromecast

  • Cheaper.

I'd cancel my eurosport player and go for GCN but my parents have GCN and live race broadcasts and catchup sometimes goes to shit whereas I havent had that problem with the same races.

  • Right - £40 vs £20 (for the first year)

If they had a roku app I might bite, i'd also be concerned with ios app quality - wish eurosport would let you download to watch offline, and yeah catch up quality/ speed. Annoys me that ITV take so long to put up highlights program

  • Weirdly it doesn’t have Omloop?

  • Had omloop last year so that's strange. I cancelled my subscription last year and got the deal a few weeks ago which is nice. I've never really had a problem with it and that is using the app and also watching it on chrome. For £20 you can't go wrong I don't think plus non ads which is a bonus.

  • I have a Eurosport sub and the races on there last year were all ad-free. I'm not sure where Eurosport ends and GCN begins really.

  • This is the NBA/MLB model where you get streaming access just to the sport you want and in theory don’t fork out for Eurosport’s biathlon content.

I get ES bundled in my TV package but I’m kind of tempted for £20

  • I think I end up getting eurosport for £20 a year anyway, with a deal/promo

nice to be able to watch the tennis now and then

  • How come some ad-free races on ES are without commentary?

  • I think some of them aren't "televised" until the last hour (or whatever) so no commentary until it goes live on the network

  • Tasteless watches all round for UAE team Emirates.

  • Fuckin hell

  • GCN is fine, but i have had issues replaying races a few times last year. It would replay from the very start of the race, but when i tried to skip through to Xkm to go, it would crash and restart at the very beginning.

edit. This was on the app, casting to my TV via Chromcast. On web browser it worked well

  • Ugliness aside I'd be made up if a sponsor gave me a $120k watch to wear for a year or so. Say some nice words about it and they may give you another one too. That's a nice little retirement fund there.

  • I doubt they’re being gifted. I would suspect loaned. Cavendish and Alaphilippe are also wearing them.

They are the height of vulgarness and I hope we don’t see big watches become de rigeur in the peloton like they have in tennis etc.
