The focus would’ve been on winning the stage. Working out the GC strategy can wait until afterwards, once the position is clearer. If Ineos were interested in GC only they’d have got Tao to ride with Hindley and Kelderman to maximise the gap, but they wanted the stage win.

rukie error
Fixed.
You may have a point if that second matters at the end, but for now I'm sure he's happy with his decision to make his victory celebration just as he made it.

So how would we armchair DS Tao into pink?

Looking forward to see how well the local HHV track lad Fred Wright do on this Vuelta. Good luck man!!

also, he's doing a great job of cleaning up that surname, which has been a millstone around my neck for 35 years

HHV track lad Fred Wright
Ah, so who on here led him out in the sprints again?
-
• #28311
I was dropped way before I can lead him out. (And this was when he was 14)

Well, I hope someone will pipe up soon. It's annoying enough that we can't claim the credit for MVDP and WVA, unless our Belgian and Dutch members have something to say about that. :)

@Oliver Schick I hadn't seen this before, but having checked the footage, I don't appear until 1:15. Any suggestion that I may have been "talking trash" with anyone is a slight against my professionalism (he was clearly quicker than me)
I was referring to this comment by @Spins:
I'm still chuckling at the trash talking between Tim and Tao at the start of their race.

On reflection, I now realise that actually referred to @furious_tiles. Easy mistake to make. :)

You dont have to be a cycling oracle like Carlton Kirby to realise the break is going to win this giro stage
-
• #28316
I've got a fiver on only one out of the break winning this Giro stage.

As much as I’d like to see Ben Swift get a Giro stage, I want Ben O’Connor to get one more as he’s he such bad luck in recent years.
-
• #28318
Apparently O'Connor is one of the riders who has a really good power/weight on paper, not really matched it on the road.
Think the front two will stay away.

Huh? What? Whosaidwhatnow?
I'm not seeing race results until days afterwards. Who am I to stand in the way of people posting photos of Aussies? More green and gold please.
