Why not dance around across different disciplines? He'll likely win more, prompt loads more articles about being the greatest, sponsors will continue to flock to him and he will be paid more.
Sounds much more appealing than being someones teammate, fetching bottles, in a race he cannot win.

MvDP seems to have the physical ability to win pretty much any race that he is in, the only thing so far unknown is long mountain stages and long stage races.
Given that his abilities include a sprint strong enough to beat hilly race sprinters (Alaphillipe, Matthews, etc), extended duration sprint, longer than a lot of top sprinters, huge aerobic engine, and ability to recover again and again from short hard efforts (cyclocross) he has a chance to win pretty much any stage bar mountain finishes.
In a classic sprint finish, he might be beaten more often than not by someone like Viviani/Ewan and end up acting like a 1000w for 30s leadout man, but if he launches and has noone on his wheel, then he'll be hard to beat to the line.

So, any reason to watch any of the post-Tour races? TdP, Tour of somewhere in USA, the Euro something somethings? Tivo is full of bike racing and I've got zero interest in playing catchup unless something amazing happened. I didn't even watch the end of the Tour ffs. Did Alan Phillip win?

Dan Martin to Israel Cycling Academy.
They must be banking on grand tour invites.
I hope they’re paying him well. It would take quite a lot of cash for me to ride for a team backed by Israel.

Haha yes. Mancrush levelz are through the roof

He's after riding for UAE, don't think he cares about that. Wouldn't be for me though (not that I'd ever be in that position). Still, seems a big step down for him though?
Quintana hasn't announced where he's going yet?

Some squad they’ll have. Wonder if Kruiswijk or Roglic will be happy in a support role or whether they’ll take one grand tour each.
-
• #23975
Maybe one of them will jump ship.
Well I can guess what that will be like, considering his CX & XC mtb seasons... and picking races that suit them, doesn't every (smart) pro rider? ;-)
