  • Dusty finish

  • Teunissen pulling like a madman, had no clue there weren't any team mates left to sprint

(Edit: got fooled again by Grøndahl's Norwegian champ jersey. Would have thought he should pull for Teunissen tho)

  • Putney High Street

  • Viviani is dirty like Paris Roubaix. Fuck me we have a dirty country.

  • Such poor crowds this year.

  • Only seemed to be busy round pubs but cycling really is absolutely the shittest sport to watch in person. I've never bothered.

  • Froome is going to win in 2020. Calling it now.

  • It's a very poor race too, rubbish parcours.

  • they could do 20 laps of box hill and there will still be a bunch sprint. they should put the finish at the top of chalkpit

  • They call it a classic but it's a dull sprint stage. But they want the finish on the mall. So many more interesting places to stage a one-way race.

    Also Lands to Bahrain-Merida.

  • Saw one of the EF Sports Directors in Franco Manca last night, and he has his kids decked out in EF kit. Very cute.

  • Bjorg Lambrecht, young Belgian talent, crashed at the Tour of Poland and passed away. Shit. :(

  • Just saw this on twitter, that’s heartbreaking news.

  • So very sad.

  • Very sad ;( RIP

  • Just posted this on the RIP thread without checking here. A reminder of the danger to others of our entertainment.

  • Horrid. Glad not to have been watching it unfold live, like with Goolaerts.

  • Just woke up and read about, such an unbelievable shame. Really puts the risks pro riders take every time they race into perspective. RIP

  • Bahrain Merida giving Mikel Landa their unequivocal backing with a .............

    one year contract

  • It’s a two year contract according to procyclingstats, possibly a one year deal with an option for a second year.

Rumour has it that Landa and Ellingworth didn’t get on well at Sky, which might be a factor.

  • It's quite the exodus from Movistar with Landa, Quintana and Carapaz all off and Valverde close to retiring (we hope). All in for Soler, or is he off as well ?

Edit - Ah, Movistar are getting Enric Mas ?

  • Interesting piece at INRG about Alaphillipe winning the Tour. The answer has to be if Thomas can, then he certainly can although he will need a different approach and imo a different team. No way Lefevre will rock up at the Tour and go all in for the overall. Talking of Quickstep, any rumours of who they will replace Viviani with? With Gaviria gone they are looking sprinter-lite. Ewan and Groenewegen are looking the hottest property in sprinting right now, and Quickstep usually go for the top boy.

And what happened to Gaviria? He looked like the next big thing but he seems to have regressed.

  • Has Sam Bennett revealed where he’s going?
