Crazy of Yates to forego the bonus seconds. A nice gesture though. Chaves has had it rougher than most.

Think that was pure sportmanship from Yates, I’d have kicked him in the nuts and called him names if he passed me ‘for bonus seconds’.
Then again, he was on the radio to double check.

Chaves will bust his nuts for yates for the next few weeks. It's more than worth it.
-
• #16780
Agreed. Proper give and take teamwork.

Classy ride from Yates!
-
• #16782
Was really dreading him taking the win, great that he didn't. Funny coming back on here after watching Froome just about hang on.

I don’t think leadership between has been decided yet. Plenty more racing to come and Yates is clearly pinging at the moment, will that form hold for another 17 days?
-

His cycling ‘style’ is rather hard to read, he looks shattered, you think you dropped him, but nope, still there.
Yates and Chaves, what a ride though!
How did they let Chaves get in the break?! -
• #16785
would have been justified taking the stage as he rode up to him and did all the work in the last few 100m, but a hugely generous gesture, and gives them 2 riders in the top 3, I just hope he doesn't live to regret that...

Good point, I just checked GC and it's only 26 seconds to Chaves, in 3rd. Gives them a good tag team card to play.
-

I reckon you can count the number of times Froome has actually been dropped by a group of GC favourites on the fingers of one hand. He has a unique approach to letting gaps open, then closing them gradually, which takes a lot of mental strength. He’s still very much in this race.
It also looks like we’ve got a cracking race on our hands, ten or so riders with a genuine chance of finishing on the podium.

So so so glad to see Michelton Scott wearing a more cycle-ish cap than a baseball one.
-
• #16789
Also with his win and time, Chaves is now in 3rd, so they have 2 very effective cards to play.
Yates looking formidable -

Be weeeeeell boring if Sky controlled this like a French race.

Esteban holding up his shoes to the camera on ItalianTV. Still, better than Chris holding up his inhaler 'spose.

Chaves looking 10 years old next to two 6ft tall models in 6” heels.

• #16793
that was a cracking stage...
-
• #16794
Great interview with Yates as well. Also nice that he looked awkward and embarrassed by the podium girls. Sooner they go the better.

Go on the lads! Looking forward to the Backstage Pass vid from MTS tonight.
Huge ride from Chavo and glad to see he got the stage from Yatesy.

Maybe it was just wishful thinnking on my part.

This. Master of pacing.
-
• #16798
Got to be incredibly demoralising if you’re trying to drop him, maybe more than if he was chasing down all your attacks.
-
• #16799
What day of racing are we on?
-
• #16800
Absolutely. Do I remember rightly that it was TD who wasn't getting drawn into attacks last year though? Stayed back, stayed composed and just reeled in the attacks.
It seems to make sense if they can avoid going into the red
Froome’s predicted demise may be premature.
