Oleg is top dog now. He's not going to be in any rush to bring in someone else who'd challenge his position.

I think that's really what it's about with him. His article was so snide and insulting. Last year Saxo lost their top Tour rider and still won 3 stages and the polka dot jersey under Riis. Sky lost their top rider and won nothing under Brailsford. Movistar and Etixx are successful with exactly the kind of old-fashioned team managers that he decries. The respect that riders had for Riis must have eaten away at him.
He mentions Formula 1 at just the time Formula 1 is falling apart, having already become the world's most boring and pointless sport. He probably admires Bernie Ecclestone since Ecclestone cares for nothing but money and power.

Who has been Contador's DS whilst at Tinkoff Saxo? I imagine it will have been Riis almost entirely (or is he Performance Director or something)? If so they've showed some brilliant stages race tactics over the last few years I think.

I think the way they won the 2012 Vuelta was very crafty, clever stuff.
