Getting some nice riding done in France.
Ordered some new 38cm Ritchey Classic bars, Wiggle next day delivery to France was a surprise!
Swapped to a Thomson Masterpiece seatpost and Selle Italia SLR Superflow saddle, put the rebadged Pro PLT stem on.
Need to source a Pro PLT silver in -10 or Thomson stem at some point for a slightly lower front end.

Back from France, now in quarantine for 14 days.
Hoping to come out of it lighter and stronger (unlikely).Time to see if I can cut some weight off the Look track bike...

Vision track cranks are approx: 818g.
Current rotor BSA30 BB is 89g.
Total: 907gDA7710 is 505g, + +20g for stages + 54g chainring + 15g chainring bolts = 594g
DA7700 adjustable BB 173g
total: 767gIf I can't figure out the 7700 BB, then the ultegra 6500 BB I have is approx 240g, for a total of 834g, which is basically just the difference in chainring size.
Will confirm on the scales when I get a chance.

Recommendations on lightweight cranks? (within reasonable price)
I have Sram Red BB30, (which doesn't fit), had a Cannondale Hollogram SI (which doesn't fit), Sram Force 1 GXP (which fits, but is surprisingly heavy, approx 710g ).
I also have 160mm Rotor Aldhu crank arms, but no spider or axle, maybe a 1x direct mount ring would be an option? Crank arms are approx. 350g, axle approx 96g, spidering approx 100g for a system weight of 546g?Ideally I'll need a PF30/BB386 crankset as they are likely to be lighter than the GXP/Hollowtech options?
Eastlon EC90 SL cranks with 40T appear to be 442g, but not cheap.

I have a SRAM force with 30mm axle and a direct mount wolftooth chainring. Can't give numbers but it's really light.
-
• #410
Hmm, may revisit. Would also fit with the Stages Carbon arm that I have in the parts bin...
Anyone have a 165mm force crank arm? Ideally DS only?
-
• #411
Alternatively you can get a Quarq/SRAM red in the 8 bolt spider configuration and get a wolftooth. Probably lighter than force.
-
• #412
I think that would be the ideal solution, but finding a seperate Sram Red crank arms with detachable spider is hard enough, finding them in 165 is almost impossible!
Could just get a Quarq in 165mm I guess...

i think my sram red 130 bcd gxp in 172.5mm are 450 grams

Sram red exogram GXP might be a good option.

those ones yes, coudn't remember the name

Also anyone know what the maximum width of pedal spacers would be reasonable without dying?
Wondering whether if I kept the vision cranks, but changed the left crank to a Stages carbon crank arm BB386 (which I already have) I'd save a bit of weight while having power data.
I believe the Q factor is 145 on the Stages, and 137 on the Visions.
To match exactly, I'd need 4mm of spacers on the drive side pedal, which would be Speedplay.I know it should be dead easy to adjust the Speedplay cleat sideways by a couple of mm, but don't want to affect the fit compared to my other bikes.

Wife's maternity leave and covid/lockdown life has caught up with me, better do another clearance sale!
Will likely part with the Lightweights (#buyer), Argos aero frameset, Infocranks, etc etc.

• #418
could you just buy a longer speedplay axle for one pedal? Assuming the ones you have are 53mm then the 62mm might solve the issue without spacers
-
• #419
I had thought of that. I have 2 sets of Titanium speedplay pedals already, but I could have a upgrade a set of chromo ones with Ti 53 on one side and 56 on the other.
Spindles are more expensive than I thought...
However, I have a Force 11 speed PF30 crank on the way, which I am thinking I'll get a 38t Superstar components direct mount chainring for maximum lightness. Can also then use the Stages crank arm on that.

300g forks received to replace the Alpina aero ones on the Look.
Force PF30 cranks with detachable spider come in at 464g.
Spider being approx. 52g makes the cranks 412g.
Direct mount chainring should come to around 81g.Should save at least 300g compared to to the Vision cranks.
80g saved on the forks.
Will move the Sworks SL stem over to replace the Zipp Sprint, will save probably about 80g.
With a weenie steerer bung and cover, should save approx. 500g to get it to 5.7kg with the AM track clinchers. With @umop3pisdn's hill climb tubulars, should get it down to close to 5kg...

Outgoing forks were actually 440g so probably a saving of 150g once I’ve trimmed the new forks.

Also ludicrous 54t Sram CX1 chainring on the way for the Principia.
54t front, 11-25 rear is sensible right? -
• #423
4.98kg.
Ritchey c260 stem was a fair bit lighter than the S Works SL stem at 105g vs 139g. 130mm Zipp stem is surprisingly light compared to its size at 190g.Stages crank arm was lighter than the Force version surprisingly.
Direct Mount chainring, hollow road chain and slightly lighter bar/brake/lever/tape solution to be decided on.
Maybe Ritchey WCS forks too to save a little more weight.
Maybe another 200g of relatively easy gains?

Crit bike update: none of my chains are small enough so ordering another.
Force 1, 54t front ring. 36cm 3T ergonova bars for maximum aero.

The Argos is being sold, and the Principia frame is going to go as well....
Some stem/seatpost changes:
Principia - 120mm -12 S works SL stealth finish
Look 875 - 130mm -12 Zipp Sprint stem
Ritchey - silver parts bin kinesis seatpost for visual check (forgive the saddle angle, not even bolted up)
