Nah, he attacked the Merckx 'athlete' hour and did a 49-something.
And was a drug cheat.

• #1205
thought it was just the 55km mark

Ah, Rominger.
Not actually busted for doping but 'coached' by Ferrari so totes legit..
-
• #1207
When the UCI went "hang on hang on you can't beat druggie Merckx by using better positions and more aero bikes!" they changed the faster records to 'Best Human Effort' and the Hour was split so the records done on a 'normal' track bike like Merckx were 'Atheletes Hour' records.

I did hear something about 60 tooth and aero but the crowd was too loud.

yeah. trying to figure it out;
So before 2014 and after 1997 there were two sets, one with any bike (basically) called best human effort, and then there was the athletes hour one which people had to do on the original Merckx bike essentially.
After 2014 they put them all together to make the UCI unified hour record but got rid of basically all the good, previous best human effort records and since then dowwett broke the record with 52km. To compete in this the bike had to be a legal pursuit bike of the time. And now Braders has broken this record.Sorry if this is repetitive and/or already covered.

I heard low 0.20s and 450w being thrown around. 400w and 0.176 if you believe the BBC infographic.

You're still on TV so you're still part of the problem :P
-
• #1215
No, almost certainly his power is to be kept as steady as possible.
Yes, realised this later having heard him say as much in an interview...also, do you mean smooth out the turns vertically or horizontally, or both?
-
• #1216
Think: turning the track into more of a circle, reducing the need for steering input in the bends.
-
• #1217
Are they overshoes? No wonder the UCI didn't let the Boardman hour stand...
-
• #1218
i can hold 450w for 35 seconds.. just another 59 mins and 25 seconds then
:(
-
• #1219
You're probably not as aero either :)
-
• #1220
can't argue with that
-
• #1222
I can do a smidge better but one of my calf muscles could be dissected to form a whole Wiggo. I don't understand how he can make that much power with those widdle weggies.
-
• #1223
It's lucky you're so dishy

Nah that looks more like an f-bomb.
Has anyone, and by anyone I mean @xavierdisley :) , done any calcs as to Wiggins Power/CdA for the hour?
