Nothing wrong with those Pro Carbons as long as you get them set up right. That's set up for someone who bought the wrong size.
Rose do some pretty understated black bikes.

CAAD10, Ultegra and cheap carbon tubs - black, light, good. Could do it close to budget if you shop around and have a decent parts bin.

Distro out of stock for that model at the moment, best chance is to go somewhere like Evans where they more likely have some.

I don't like the paint job on most of the new 2015 models...
Strip the paint.
Plain frame and lighter. Win win.

Thanks for the tips - I like the genesis however it's their first entry into carbon this year...not sure how good the carbon quality is. though the reviews seem to really like the frame and it's properly upgradable (eg their most expensive model has the same frame as base model)

Canyons are cheap, light, and have Nice quiet Paint jobs.

For a climber I'd be selling everything I could to get a Scott addict from westbrook though....

As its missing Wheels, cranks, and finishing kit. It'd be well light ;)
Seriously though. If you have a training bike already, and have the time to finish this off With prime weight weenie parts. It wouldnt be too tricky/expensive to make a 6kg super-bike out of it.

Buy the 2nd hand Cervelo obviously

The Zero is not an open source frameset.

This, some carbon company in the far east will be making this for them. Said company will, no doubt, be make tens of thousands of bikes every year for several other brands. I wouldn't worry about it the quality, it will be up to the standard of all other big brand carbon frames.
The only way you're going to get some very special in carbon is if you pay the premium and get something that is, top of the line, hand made and in turn very very expensive.

I meant actually own a factory and do their own R&D etc.

• #743
they do design decent stickers though.

All flex very well according to Tour 1/2015.

I dont think it matters to have an in house 'factory' (craddock makes carbon frames out of a garage) the R&D is more important and I trust Genesis on that. They are one of the most creative British cycling brands atm.
In terms of cheap vs expensive carbon. It doesent matter.

Hmmm I've looked at the geo's and design of the Genesis Zero framesets extensively and they are almost definitely not just re-badged copies of Taiwan's finest sportive fodder...

Don't know about factory, but they do their own R&D and mould for the Zero.

MitzEclipse has all reason to be worried then :-)

Ed's right. Testing/R&D will happen over in china/taiwan and here.
They don't make any frames over here. Brompton and Pashley are the only manufactures of scale in the UK I think.
I think Ed meant:

Because in the yellow its not so bad:
