Blank(ish) last page?
Chainbreaker managed to write a comment that broke the HTML.
That's interesting... I've been wondering whether that was possible and couldn't achieve it. Now I know it is, I'll think about how to make a balanced HTML tree from the markdown pre-sanitisation.

RE: posting in threads would you prefer we all used Microcosm version now or this one, also my profile says my last posts were ten days ago (obviously stuff since the data import (so 3 days ago?) will be missing is that all that should be missing or is data still being copied across?

Woooooah! Didn't realise my old aliases/incarnations would be spliced together in the name! It's fine, as long as I can change it...:/

The bans were migrated.
They won't be when we refresh it.
We have a new ban system, it's... different.
And it would be too much cheeky to ask you how this new ban system will works?
Not that I'm not used to the unknown or to flashing surprises, I'm also patient and I can wait, but maybe some people would like to know better so that they can work with efficiency for causing the event. Knowing how it works it will help some of them to help you better, that's all.
In a nutshell, I'm just trying to help. :)
Bloody hell, after 2PM all the posts won't be migrating.

Thanks for all, by the way.

It's nice over there, although a bit like being at a party, in someone else's new house, standing slightly awkwardly by the buffet table, waiting for all the other guests to arrive......

SSL for https://www.lfgss.com will be carried over during the switchover, but for now it's not configured (hence the certificate warning).

Persona doesn't seem to be playing nice with the iPad and won't let me log-in. Surely it's supported? If not, I'm about to be locked-out from the forum because I live on the iPad.
-
• #113
Sorted now. I genuinely think Persona will put some users off.
-
• #114
It will be fine as long as you always use your browser in porn mode via Tor and create a different persona account for every site which uses it :-)

Old giffer type question - Is there a way on the new microcosm doobrie of viewing 'todays posts' across all the forums rathere than burrowing in to each forum individually?
-
• #116
you can 'follow' each forum you're interested in and then each new post in that forum will appear in 'following'

Which browser did you use - assuming safari? This morning I tried logging in, navigating and posting from chrome and safari on iPad and couldn't reproduce any problems (annoyingly).
There definitely are some issues - I've seen some in the error log - but any extra info would be helpful.
By the way, on the Persona thing, we definitely aren't stuck with it forever. As David posted, we can self-host in future and make sure it's used exclusively for Microcosm, or move to another login system entirely. If we do move, it's easy to email every user as they've had to provide an email address to log in in the first place.

I didn't get to call yesterday / Friday - Everything seems ok though, on FF, Chromium & IE.

Same rules will exist as today... on what is acceptable or not, etc.
Main differences:
- Temporary bans won't exist for a while... so if you get banned it's permanent.
- It is possible to ban people from specific forums rather than the whole site.

On the home page, click "Conversations" on the right... it does a search for all conversations, sorted by last modified time, and shows which ones you haven't read.
Which makes it almost equivalent to "Today's Posts" and "New Posts".

Can people be barred from posting in certain threads? In that way there could be a pictures forum, and Marcom could be saved a load of bother by not being allowed to post in threads devoted to pictures.
-
• #121
No.
Permissions are per-forum or per-site only.
Those who have any ban in place may also lose a few other privileges on the site. Such as being able to send PMs, or create/own forums.

I should add... I don't know what to do with ownership of a forum if the owner is banned even for a moment.
It may be that if you get banned, you will lose any and all forums you've created... either they'll be deleted or ownership will be transferred to someone else (whoever the hell wants it).

• #124
I like cruel, another idea could be blocking the access to all and leave the forum owner banned inside and alone. If, by chance, he's a cretin, well then it may get interesting for the first time to watch him.
-

There's nothing intentionally cruel about what I describe.
If we've banned someone because they're abusing someone else, stalking their ex, making someone's life hell. Then why continue to allow them to do so via messaging?
If we've banned someone, then will that person continue to act reasonably and maintain a good forum if they've created one? The ultimate legal liability for stuff that happens on a site is the site admin, and some people when banned take it very personally. The banned person may well create a legal risk for the entire forum, so removing the ability to own/moderate a forum is a way to mitigate that risk.
You, marcom, took it extremely personally. You chose to flounce, you chose to sign me up to porn mailing lists. Your message above shows that you still take it personally. I will have no hesitation to ban you for the smallest infraction given your past behaviour.
