  • I'm definitely in btw, just checked with Mrs Hudson and we don't have any plans I'd forgotten about!

  • @12ounce 16-18mph av. isn't fast, it's just faster than usual!

  • Oh, and awesome news Chris - was good riding up top with you in the latter stages last week, hopefully we can go at that pace without feeling too guilty this time.

  • Chris, it'll be around 6 miles longer than last week, and at about the pace that you were riding anyway, just without the stops.

"All Steel 7: Casually Pacy, Never Racy
    September 14th, Meeting at 4 for a 5pm start.

We're having another bike ride this Sunday. A little faster, a little further, and with a few more of those Norfolk bumpy bits doing their best impressions of hills. We'll be covering some familiar ground, taking the best bits of the last two weeks' rides and carefully putting them together to make something a little more challenging. Make no mistake though; this is still not a race, and we'll be aiming for the casual pace of 16-18mph. Coffee, ride, pub. Classic formula for Sunday fun.

But don't worry if that doesn't sound like your kind of thing. If you prefer an easier pace and a shorter route, make sure you come along next week. We will be splitting into two groups, with two paces and two routes. Something for everyone!"

  • Quick bump for this today!

Looking forward to it, hopefully familiar faces and a few more new ones

  • Is anything going to happen next Sunday? I'm always working when things do :(....... So yeah, just read it again, def down for next week!!!

  • I'm also intrigued! However is there any on other days? Work Sundays!

  • Was a good one tonight, 38.5 miles and a couple of alpine speed bumps...I really need a bigger sprocket, 49/16 is too big for the uphill bits!

Last nights ride for anyone that may be interested!

  • Wow @hudsoncjnr pins of steal.... Or at least jelly after! I ride 46/18, hills are fine on that, spinny though. That's what I was gonna change to, is it really nasty upwards or just a lot of effort?

  • It's not that bad really, the only bit I struggled with was long lane - but then I do have 26 inch thighs #BoastPost

  • Aha @hudsoncjnr that's only a few inches off my waist size! But yeah I felt pretty good last night too - having the beating of that VCN guy on all but one climb probably helped give me a little boost - nothing better than showing the roadies who's boss...

...over a short sharp distance where I only got the jump on him each time by virtue of knowing the route.

  • Next summer I could look like this! Haha!!

Yeah I particularly enjoyed the windy section leading up to Lotus where I was holding 20mph+ at the front and had to wait for the roadies to catch us up!

    (Not that it's a race...)

  • Yeah I wanted to bridge the gap up to you guys on that stretch, but felt bad leaving poor Peds to suffer at the back with his board shorts and risers, spinning 46x18 like a mad man!

  • Oh also, @Poppaklump next week's rides should be starting a little earlier to accommodate the nights drawing in, if that means you're more likely to make it?

  • I'm sure I heard the guy from VCN say something about having already been out once today, well don't come and then whinge about it!!

  • Is there another one this Sunday?

  • Yeah there is, probably a littl earlier so we don't finish in the dark again - and we're hoping to split into a fast and a slow group so everyone's happy, although I'm not sure who's leading the slow group at the mo!

  • Will certainly be up for it this Sunday, haven't ridden in nearly a week! :(

2 groups is a good idea though, as much as I enjoy a gentle ride around the countryside the slow uphills kill my knees!

  • Knocked out 20+ miles (didn't start strava) today on that gear, met a roadie chap on the way and kept up with him for a few miles till I turned off, made me feel boss! Spin to win!!! Poor Peds though ;D

  • I am off all day and have demanded that my fine lady lets me go out and play..... Who am I kidding... I grovelled:) so I shall be there with bells on.

  • Haha, I'm newlywed so I still tell rather than ask!

  • Aha, I think the problem was Peds' fitness rather than his gear choice, but spinning like crazy on the flat certainly didn't help his legs or lungs. He said he was almost hallucinating at one point!

Glad you're coming though, more fixed/ss the merrier - although I'm worried Chris will see your Leader in the flesh and want one!

It's also really frustrating not being able to reply to people properly using IE8 at work...

  • Haha I'm not even married!!!!! But 1 child and one on the way is the same...minus the paper work.
