Haha....I had that discussion with my riding partner yesterday! :)
I think I might need to get a couple of bottles with the spout covers for the more 'exposed' bottle locations. :) -

How was it rigid?
-
• #431
No worse than riding rigid off road anywhere else. It's what I'm used to so doesn't feel any different. :)

Anything mega rocky / lumpy? Or just bridleway type stuff?
-
• #433
LOTS of Rocky and bumpy and lumpy and rooty stuff!

I fancy doing this and camping enroute. Starting at Winchester and going south sounds fun. May not be entirely match fit but I'd be keen to ride at a social pace. 2.8 tyres don't lend to pacey rides.
I headed up the river lee on Saturday and picked up a few trails off route, I'd be keen to find a few more routes like the 'Core grey way' disused railways lines. Fun rides.

If it's all bumpy as shit like @Black_Rainbow_Project sez I'm thinking of taking the 18kg dual sus monster and going full-on social pace. Especially if the rain persists as the only knobblies I have are very knobbly indeed.

I may join you... Then I can say "I told ya so" :)

All in for social pace and a lot of Lolz. No suss for but tyre pressure. Same as @Black_Rainbow_Project (nice set up btw dude)

I had a set of those forks on my Brooklyn race link! :)
I modified them after a while down to ten inches of travel and put them on my brooklyn big link where they stayed until the whole bike got nicked! :( -
• #442
That'll be great for it!
-
• #443
I think that was definitely the ugliest Nicolai ever though.

I think the wheels weigh more than my XC bike.

I'm in Cambridge, so need to get the train in, then ride to Waterloo to get the train out.
Maybe get to Winchester at 11ish, but open to suggestion.
I figured that would give 6-7 hours worth of gentle riding on Saturday leaving plenty of time for seaside jollies and the train home on Sunday.
-
• #447
Actually. Reading back I don't think 6-7 hours will be enough. Maybe try for nearer 10am from Winchester and 8-9 hours on day 1 leaving 4-6 hours for day 2.
@tomo187 threatened to recommend some pubs a few pages back.
When I'm at a computer I'll try to work out if Chacontcontbucontrbury Ring would be a sensible 2/3rds along overnight stop.

I would recommend leaving Winchester as early as possible so you can genuinely take it easy.
-
• #449
Let me know where you plan to stop and I'll see what I can recommend.

Subscribed, Keen to try this before the summer is out.
Will be on a cross bike as its all I have.
The bike currently looks like it's been dug up!
And this was after a lot of the crap has been washed off by the rain from above and the spray from below.
