An hour of silence. Has goonz made a complete hames of his fork? Drilled into his own foot? Gone for dinner? The suspense is well-nigh unbearable

ha! im actually leaving that tomorrow and have put the wheels together and am now trying to get the road bike fitted with the carbon wheels for tomorrows ride...one of the brake pad retainer screws had rounded off so had to figure out how to remove that! got that off and road bike is very nearly ready.
will leave drilling fork for when i am back fromthe ride...not whilst im feeling pretty tired right now when i probably will drill my own foot!

Gonna cut the steerer?

Looks good! Maybe a more classic saddle?

I'm planning in cutting the steerer but later once it's all done. No idea how to do that so that's gonna have to go into the lbs

So finally managed to drill out brake hole. Required a 6mm to get it to size.
Now i need to fit the chain but it is too long so need to chop it to size. It has one of these spring clip connectors, how do I remove it?

Not to worry its all done!

im a fucking genius, pinch flatted my only long valve inner tube!! now to wait for some new tubes and valve extenders!
-
• #45
Patch it?
-
• #46
Ha if only it was that easy! I have a draw full of punctured tubes that I have been meaning to patch up but its not my strong point!
I already tried once but failed and its my evenings mission now to try and patch it up. Have ordered some more tubes so the bike should be ready in the next few days with inner tube and bar tape to finish it off.
-
• #47
Cool, just out of interest what type of patches are you using?
-
• #48
Nothing fancy, just a cheap kit that came with my xtools tool kit. Doubt its very good but ive never gotten round to buying better patches...
what should i use?
-

So here is the (nearly) finished article.
Excuse the front wheel, still need an inner tube. The seat and stem angle need some work and will eventually get around to cutting the steerer. Apart from that, its pretty much ready with a few tweaks once i've ridden it.
Now I guess the main thing to learn is how to ride fixed!

Operation patch up inner tube hasnt gone well, there are 2 or 3 holes right next to each other and overlapping the patches isnt good enough and air is still escaping.
Guess its not meant to be.
yes thats what im afraid of too, it has happened with me ion the past too! dont have a hand drill, will just have to use the drill with masking tape...
