Looks like a nice ride out from home, less so from central (that would involve taking in the delights of Ilford which I'm not sure I feel up to).

now committed elsewhere on Wednesday, so might be destined never to ride about my birth village (spent first ten years or so there), :-/
- place is notable for the influence of the local Baron, of Ingatestone Hall; note how only one side of the railway line has buildings on it - recall the railway line having to bend around the land of IH (and power of the Petres)
William Petre bought Ingatestone manor soon after the Dissolution of the Monasteries for some £850 and commissioned the building of the house.

I'm guessing it's like the scene in Demolition Man where Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bulllock wear the VR sex goggles? Or with the three seashells?

That's fine, but you know the rules...

You have to [strike]assist with howrad's meditation session[/strike] carry the beers.

Howrad tried explaining what he was going to. I did not get a word of what he was on about.
-
• #410
To be fair it can be a bit like that when he tries to explain anything,

Sorry to be missing out on this. Not sorry to be missing out on whatever Howrad is going to. I'd assumed it was some sort of Laserquest, judging by the picture, and though I'm still not too sure what it is, having clicked through, I'm pretty sure it isn't that.
Thought this quote was pretty unfortunate:
"I feel God in many more places by feeling God in an OM. I notice God when I watch someone reading a book on the bus. I notice God when I see a man playing with his young daughter. "

I'll meet you 19:45 Ingatestone Station.
Bring your crew 'cos I'm bringing mine.
Initally I read this as 'Bring your cow, 'cos I'm bringing mine'
Takes the tnrc obsession with animals to a whole nother level.
I will prolly be on the bedwetters list.

• #415
Don't have a cow, the badgers killed it.
Shame you can't make it, and you too KT Bee. With the fine weather and late sunsets we thought we'd do some of the flatter routes to maximise the appeal. Probably Chingford for the next one, it's nearest to the solstice so hopefully the weather will hold. Clear your diaries.
-
• #416
Maybe Howrad will turn up for a route with the word ecstasy in the name.
-
• #417
I'l be back in the game after next weekend. Is Chingford the one that ends at the Station Pub that serves mild? If so definitely in - have become a completely lighweight: a flat route and weak beer would be the perfect re-introduction to WNKR.
-
• #418
Can't vouch for the beers they have on but it is the station pub and they have had bank's mild on in the past. Should be a good re-introduction to midweek night riding and for that matter a good intro-introduction for anyone who fancies an evening ride. Tell all your friends to come along, tell your enemies too.

I have good news and bad news and potentially more bad news. The good news is that my wife is pregnant. The bad news is that the 'morning' in 'morning sickness' is a complete misnomer and is something that makes you feel ill all the time. So I may be out for tonight to take care of her, but not confirmed as of yet.

I'll do my best to make it to the next one, then. Still not back up to speed after a month off the bike, but I hope to be faster than then and I can definitely do the distance.

congrats dan good stuff
Really looking forward to this after my epic bedwet last time. I'm also happy to ride out if the train list starts filling up. So sign up people - it's a wicked route and I need the miles and I'm too lazy to ride out unless I'm kicked off the list.
