I love it.
Good to know incase I decide to build a nicer set for this eventually.
I'll never figure out the whole negative rise stem + high-rise bars thing :-/
It's really just the most comfy combination out of all the things I have.

Very very true.

I'm far more concerned by the exposure and composition there ;-)

Got this stem from Bueno yesterday, I think I prefer it to the ARX.

Glad to have been of service Indra! :) Stem matches cockpit VERY nicely.

And you still owe me a go on Orlo! :)

Is the Arx 120mm? I could be interested if you're moving it on.

Ha it's just a shit scan of a negative.

Hell yeah man, you can have a go next them you're around.

It is but a friend's already taken it off me, he might move it on if it ends up too long though. I'll let him know you're after one.

It looks better than a posive rise stem with flat bars.

Gangsta is sick.
Also on a side note.
Fuck you for getting a 5D. How the fuck did you afford it?! -
• #315
Poorly listed mk1 ended up going for just under £300 and I ended up paying like £220 for it.
Problem is I only have a 90mm and 70-300mm that work on it because the 50mm 1.4 and adaptor I was using on the crop body interferes with the mirror on this and the two sigma short/medium zooms I had been using on my dos film camera apparently don't work with digital bodies... So gonna save for a sigma 50mm f1.4 and a couple of other nice lenses this summer.

Get a 1.8 and you won't have to save.
DOF distance between the two is like...2" at around 9 foot if calculations are right.
If you're getting it for low light, then well...you're saving yourself half a stop. You can pull that out of a 1.8 by moving your arms closer to your body. If, however, you're going for build quality, then by all means, go for a 1.4.
The marketing shtick and number DP review fiends have really pulled the wool over people's eyes. £ for £, is the half to 2/3 of a stop really worth it?Practical changes in Photography are better than money based ones. Buy glass, but don't buy it for the wrong reason.

sigma don't make a 1.8
-
• #318
I definitely want the Sigma 1.4, not for DoF, not really for the 1/2 stop of light but for the build quality and silent focusing mainly. I doubt I'll buy new.

Dude just stick with the 1.8, you don't need anything better, just keep taking photo.
It's like trying to make a bike lighter hoping to get that marginal gain instead of losing some fat on that massive gut of your which make a much bigger noticeable difference.

I know but I still want to buy it, so I probably will end up with one. I don't by any means need a 5d and I'm ok with admitting it but happy that I bought it because I really enjoy using it. That sort of stands for everything in this thread. I could have just a pompino or something.
@b0n0r. Completely missed that, was blinded by the 1.4
@Indra While I'm totally with Ed on this one, I shall say no more in this instance. Build quality is one of few things I'd spend premium on.I really hate the feeling of loose/plasticky focus rings like the 1.8 has.

I know that feel, bought a Canon 1.8 50mm prime off the bay for cheaps, and the quality is reflected in the pics...so bought the Canon 1.4 prime for $300...better glass=better pics
But photography, like bikes, can quickly drain your finances.

there's two versions of the cannon 50mm 1.8, one is plasticy and a cheap and one is metal
