That ones new to me. I've enjoyed pickled mushrooms before but not walnuts.

"He was very fond of pickled walnuts, gentlemen. He said he always found that, taken without vinegar, they relished the beer."

  • Which links to WOW WOW Sauce.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow-Wow_sauce

    You guys are cray cray

  • Ran out of rum, so had to turn to Jim Beam.
    I was mixing it:
    50g Jim Beam
    20g Cherry syrup
    Orange peel
    Topped off with Ginger Ale

It was pretty sweet, but very tasty.
I assume this is a variation on something pre-existing, but wholely recommended.
Going to dial back the cherry and ginger for a shorter beverage.

  • Sugar Tax™

  • Tonight has turned to bourbon.
Healthy measure, maple syrup and lime juice. Shake the shit out of it.
Strain into a glass, twist of orange.
    Win.

  • Margaritas, something to break up all the beer drinking.

  • Makers and grapefruit juice.
    Tart and lively.

Probably have a few more tomorrow, with a barbecue.

  • First rule of life: #hippyisalwaysright
    Second rule of life: #hippyisalwaysleft

    Fixed.

  • I think I saw that in a shop once--is it currently being produced or am I making that up?

I can't quite remember but I think have a vague memory of it because as it wasn't vegan I didn't buy it.

  • Hm ... this page has a link to a company called 'Nervous Nigel's', which doesn't seem to have a web presence any more:

    http://www.foodsofengland.co.uk/wowwowsauce.htm

That jar doesn't look familiar, though.

Other than that, I can only find recipes, but no producer.

  • Felt like having a mint julep this afternoon. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy them.

  • Sloe & Tequila
    2 parts Sloe gin
    2 parts Tequila
    1/2 part Lime Cordial
    Shaken with ice
Poured over ice in a tumbler

  • It's still all about a perfect Manhattan for me. Occasionally will venture into Aperol Spritzer territory if I'm feeling dry/fruity

Also been enjoying the basic mid week Gin and Juice recently.

  • Tonight was spiced rum, White rum, bitter lemon and dash of passionfruit liqueur. Perfect late afternoon sundowner.

  • Negronis and Aperol Spritzes (Aperols Spritz?) today.

  • Makers and grapefruit juice.

I mean, that's just, can someone, I mean, shit, is there social services for bourbon? Because someone needs to call those mofos!

  • Manhattan

are great, once you've removed the vermouth and bitters. ;)

  • Well really I say!

  • Ah yes, pints of aperol yesterday for three of us, while elder son up in Leeds had negronis because his flatmate had been to a reservoir and came back with some Campari.

  • Dark & Stormy with Brewdog's 100 Cuts spiced rum. It's very sweet.

  • A Dark 'n' Stormy is only ever made with Goslings Black Seal Rum. Otherwise it's just sparkling ginger beer, rum & lime etc etc.

  • A friend is launching this next week, cocktail kits delivered to your door. She runs Nine Lives bar in London Bridge, so knows her stuff

    https://cocktailporter.co.uk

  • Negroni sbagliato tonight. Always a winner.

  • Actually, I think you'll find Goslings trademarked Dark 'n Stormy while the IBA uses Dark 'n' Stormy and yours truly made a what is known as a Dark & Stormy, which means I can put whatever rum I likey in it. #hippyisalwaysright
