  • Poll to determine distribution of EHBPC spots at the UKC.

  • I hate to be the dick who sticks his nose into other people's tournaments, but draws really suck in so many ways - players, spectators, ranking teams... I don't know enough about formatting, but would it be fairer to do 4 rounds without draws? If there's time, you could do a 5th round, if not, start elimination or do throw-ins?

In my experience (been to many tournaments, but admittedly only helped organise one...) banning golden goal doesn't really save much time - it's teams dawdling before and after games or players calling for a 5-minute mechanical timeout when they're 4-0 up and there's 30 seconds left and they could just go and sit in goal.

Could a compromise be a maximum of 3/4/5 minutes overtime, but keep golden goal?

  • There's NO TIME!

  • There never is...

  • draws really suck in so many ways... banning golden goal doesn't really save much time

First to five is the one that doesn't really save much time.

Allowing draws does save you time. Super-strict time-outs are also a good way of clawing some time back.

In my opinion draws are no bad thing and are often a more useful result (ranking-wise) than forcing one team to win.

I agreed that golden goal situations are better than draws though (more entertainment value).

  • draws suck for the midtable though as they can distort it...

  • It'd be interesting to see how many matches end up as a draw over previous tournaments. Seems like it's higher than you might get in other sports over a similar number of games.

  • Create a 5 minute deadline for the first joust from when the last player of the previous game leaves the court? 3 vs 1 = not ref's problem.

  • It doesn't reward you sitting on a draw...which is a good thing! Go out and win it!

  • Any plans to change the weather forecast?

  • GOOOOLDEEEEN GOOOOAALLLL!!!!!1111oneoneeleven

    Times
Registration starts at 8am at the courts, or at the courts on Friday (see below). First games start at 9am promptly both days. Failure to be there in time for your first game will result in forfeiture. We finish 4pm on Saturday. We'll aim to finish by 7 on the Sunday, however we are booked till 9, so that's the latest we'll finish in event of delays.

    Friday Night
We have one court booked for throw-ins on Friday, 7-10pm. Bristol people will be there pretty much on time, so if you arrive early just wait.

    Rules
We're using NAH ruleset 4.1, available at http://www.nahardcourt.com/rules/. Winning teams will have to stay on to ref, so please make sure you're familiar with them. Games are 10 minutes max, or first to 5. Draws permissible in Swiss Rounds.

    Parking
Parking is available at the courts during opening times only (so you'll have to move cars overnight). It's free all day Saturday and Sunday. On the Friday evening if your car will be there for more than 3 hours please inform reception so they can note your registration and not fine you.

    Saturday Night
We have booked local bike co-op Roll for the Soul (http://www.rollforthesoul.org/) for the Saturday night. From 7pm it's all for us, but you can go straight from the court. There's a meal deal for bike polo players, and also 4 for 3 on beers. Ask at the bar.

    Courts are at https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=St+Pauls+Community+Sports+Academy&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=st+paul%27s+sports+academy&hnear=0x4871836681b3d861:0x8ee4b22e4b9ad71f,Bristol,+City+of+Bristol&cid=17668871022440787524&ei=CoI8U-7II8nF7Abq7oHQBw&ved=0CJABEPwSMAo

    Team Details
Please let us know as soon as possible of any last minute changes. Those whose team-names are tbc - please let us know what it'll be, or we'll make one up.

    Bring and Buy
We'll have a table for people with stuff to sell, which will be staffed one way or another all weekend, however if you're relying on us to take care of it please can you label and price it somehow?

  • A few questions:

    1. Do you only have the court till 4pm on Saturday? Given that this is a pretty early finish could you not make the games last at least 12minutes if you have the courts longer.

    2. Will games be 10 min the entire weekend? No gradual increase in game length in Double Elim?
      i.e. 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 min games as the bracket progresses.

    3. re winning team reffing, will this also be in place on the Sunday?

  • Court closes at 4pm and they've asked for us to finish games at 4 to allow for clear up time. Disappointing but necessary. We tried to improve it but nothing doing.

We hope to increase in game length later on, but it'll depend on timings.

Reffing will change at some point on the Sunday. TBC.

  • Me and cardiff Paul are looking for a 3rd if anyone is looking for a team this weekend.

  • No full moon on sat night? Love that bar

  • Friday night full moon preparation then Chan.
