Won the lottery but not sure if I can go! Are these things transferrable?
-

Not easily. I found Eroica staff were very hot on ID being required at registration and you weren't allowed to pick up race packs for others.
However, I was dealing with a tall, rule-driven American lady, so it might be a question of who's behind the desk.

Bugger: last year's digs not available. Knew I should've re-booked immediately and gambled on the ballot. Oh well, the hunt begins ....

just turn up with pretty much any bike from any era and any style but it must have down tube or bar end shifters, external cable routing on the handlebar brake levers and toestrap style pedals. these are the only essential bits. i've seen people ride 10 speed wheels and even modern ti frames but they passed the other rules so all good to go
they check your bike on the start line and won't stamp your card if the bike doesn't adhere to those rules^This pretty much sums it up. There is a point at the start line where the queue goes down to singleish file and everyone passes past a stamper that will check the points above.
I didn't make the ballot - I can't remember them having too much infrastructure to catch rogues (and hence the fs mtb's that passed me) tho not sure if it's a bit shitty doing it that way? I can certainly live without the pasta/bottle opener (was it?!)
I stayed at the MyOne Radda in Chianti which was perfectly good (though this year (due to) staying at somewhere a bit closer/cheaper.

Had the same problem. Radda looks to be the best bet, but be quick.

shit! i've not converted my ballot - reckon that's too late!?
-
• #38
anyone figured how to use your ballot number to actually register?
-
• #39
hope you're not too late by now! maybe they have many more that forgot or did not register at all so there might be a spot??
anyway the simplest way is to just click the link in the mail they sent, the line above reads: "to convert your pre-subscription in regular-subscription just click the below link"
then pay by bank transfer and send a screenshot of that to iscrizioni@eroica.it
good luck!!!

Propably gonna be camping in a tent, anyone knows how it looks in Italy? If we set up tent will we get shot by farmers, arrested by police, raped by Mario Cipollini in the morning?

pretty much, and previously it's been tricking freezing at night! i would avoid if possible but if not they have a big sportsfielf you can book a space to camp on close to the starting area

I haven't sorted the flights or accomondations yet. I guess it would be best to try to get a flight to Pisa, but I would prefer direct flights so might need to consider Rome also. One thought was to rent a motorhome/campervan with the family. If I end up going alone I would be willing to share a ride to Gaiole.

Look forward to it JJ!
