Ted James still has stems on his shop, and says they can be made to order as well.

Have to ask - why 23mm? why not 25mm?
-
• #154
Because I thought that 23 was the biggest I'd get away with using the 3T Funda and be able to get a slim guard in there.
Probably going to change direction on the fork though (it'd look rubbish with an external headset) so might rethink the tyre decision also.

Dibs funda

I also have a nice Easton fork for external headset if any good to you, no good to me, looks shit with internal headset.
-
• #157
Which one?

These I think, ec70 aero. Really nice shape blades, was disappointed when I realized they would only work with external headset.
Mine have carbon steerer though.

Do they have 'guard mounts?
-
• #160
Unfortunately not

Is there enough meat on the dropouts to drill and tap?
-
• #162
I reckon there should be, will have a closer look at them tomorrow and get some photos with a ruler if you want?

• #163
That'd be handy, cheers.

What about a custom steel fork? (genuine question).

Nothing is set in stone Ed.
What would be a reasonable price for my Funda Team Fork?
-
• #167
dammit, WW no more
-
• #168
I've always stated that the WW thing was about the SystemSix.
Still is- I think it makes sense to try to get the bike you ride up mountains to be as light as it can reasonably be.

Custom fork mean he can build it to accept short reach brake with enough room for mudguard and 25mm (or even 28mm), or direct mount for the new Ultegra/Dura Ace brakes.
Difference between custom fork and stock fork are surprisingly noticeable (as you did with the Serotta's fork).

back to stems, I had this one made for me by Limit Fabrications
Its TIG welded to match my frame and fork, but he can fillet braze/bi-lam stems too

Does anyone know how much a custom alu CNC stem would cost?
-
• #173
Much, I would think.

Changing direction on this, if anyone has a hankering for Dura Ace 7710 built onto NOS Ambrosio Nemesis (double butted spokes, brass spoke washers) let me know.
We're going deeper:

What is happening?
Demon made one for murtle, integrated top. I have it now.
It's welded though.
