That was awesome, top company even though we set off too fast and I thought I was done for in Epping. 15.6mph average, tired now but happy!!

A father/daughter tandem team, we made it the whole way without being rained on, then got co-opted into passing out free bananas and muffins at Dunwich in the absolute pouring rain.
We were on the blue Raleigh T6000 with fairy lights on the frame and green lights in the front wheel and pink at the back. These are the things a father has to do to get a daughter onto a tandem, apparently.
I think a group of forumengers said hello to us at the start, but we were off before the overheard "Vince DASed me" had sunk in. Also there was an LFGSS cap.

The daughter was the stoker, I remember passing and, before I realised it was tandem, thinking this girl was crazy fast

You need more confidence, you have bested every ride we have done and their always further or faster than you expected/thought you were capable.
*we did set off too fast though

We made it out to a rather vicious pothole just north of Stebbing which took down all of us, incapacitating 2 of our 4 man group. The broken bike duo made it home thanks to some kind locals and a train...
I rode back into London with my mate. Shame, as I was well up for some big distance and legs were feeling sweet! I just don't the 370k round trip would have been possible at a decent pace with just 2 of us left. Rides here:http://www.strava.com/activities/165133601

Bummer!
Chapeaux Earthloop.

Glad to hear so many avoided the rain. We got drenched for about 30 minutes, but it was super cool coming down dark, tree-lined hills in the torrents. Felt just like the tour.
Feet are still wet.

Which pro team is your contract with this year?

I do get paid to ride a bike. ;-)
But the idea that one flat night ride is just like the worlds premier stage race is quite amusing.

That fucking pothole. Caused a pinch flat in one of our group, and after fixing (3rd of 4 flats) realised that the rim was mangled. Managed to make it the rest of the way with caliper qr wide open.

Best bit was meeting forumengers in Fyfield worst bit getting soaked, for far too long.
I'll of forgotten by next year, shudders.

Jut got home, loved the solo sections, great time to reflect. Also loved the Epping bit, makes you feel you're part of a huge body of awesome folk. Loved riding the Surly, especially the capability of taking a change of clothes and loads of supplies. Proper mission bike. Thanks Indra for lending me the £10er for the breakfast beer :D
Didn't like the 20 minute downpour and didn't like the system for getting on the coaches.
apart from that 9/10 would ride again. Hello again to all that I saw along route, and good to meet Scilly Suffolk and Oliver at the food stop.
Happy with my 15.5mph average considering I had to push 120kg of bike+me

Proper buzz killington! People are absolutely within their rights to have a little fantasy about being a bike god while doing some amateur domestic stuff. Wind your Poe face in you grumpy elitist.

Haha, it was more of a 'it were just like the biltz' sentiment than a genuine comparison.

Obvs.
I'm 38 and very unfit and I still hear mad Phil commentating in my head when I climb a cat 6 slope on a day out.

Great ride, cycling on to get the train from Ipswich was vast improvement on coach.
Res points to the fixie skidders with milltag who were handling the wet roads and non-existent braking very well. -

The disco tandem! Saw you pass a couple of times from a distance, unfortunately we were eating at the time and couldn't just catch up...

Sorry for ditching you guys, we took a wrong turn very early on and missed Lea Bridge Road entirely. And we would never have caught you at 15.5mph!

^ no worries, it was us that left you really, myself and caz got dropped very early on so we had the choice slow and sit with you guys or leap frog back up to the spfg guys, and once the choice was made we went for it. Secretly wanted to see you sat on the beach at the end like "what took you guys"

One of the greatest rides ever. Good to know so many enjoyed it this year, I can still hear Bohemian Rhapsody playing in my head when I recall the memories of DD XX.

That was me and yurikin for a while. Blew my front out on it and some chap from Balham went over the bars and screwed his wrist up so Yuri then spent ages trying to get an ambulance.
Those last ten miles went on for ever. Rain was patchy as we got soaked in one area but we're in the Ship pub when the heavens opened on the beach so stayed there for a pint
Just on the train home from Ipswich and looking forward to a hot bath.

Another great DD. Had to stick with the slowest in my group so I spent a total of 12 hours in the saddle. I was surprised how comfortable I felt brakeless, though the two guys who told me to get a proper bike can do one!
Deffo again I look forward to next year!!!
