    It's all about the list

  • ^I can see , done :)

  • Greetings,

Well it's another lovely day in Babylon-don.

    Oh and it's

So hope the really serious training required for this ride is coming along nicely

Peace and love to one and all,
    Tim

  • No problem, Tim. I completed all my serious training years ago :-)

  • My training has been put on hold. I ran out of scotch.

  • I ran out of scotch.

    Lynchman, is that you?

  • Greetings and Love to each and every one.....,

Now then....................As a special treat for you all.....On a musical tip......

Much of the ride is out and about in south Babylon-don. The top roots, rock reggae sound system is without question JAH Shaka sound.

He hails from South / South East, not far from the route of this ride...
For those of a certain age , there was once a radio station called Kiss FM. Back in the day it was a pirate station and played a lot of different types of music. In the mid 1990's JAH Shaka made a series of radio broadcasts on that station.

So if you have some time to spare, then check out some roots rock reggae. 4 clips about 45 mins each.

He has been playing his own sound since the 1970's and still comes out 5 or 6 times a year.

    Musical education for you.

Let JAH music play for each and every one...

JAH Love is a message from above...

    Give thanks,
    Tim

  • Well - massive balls. The missus has arranged for us to be away **despite **this being in the diary. Gutted to be missing my favourite ride.

So anyone need a place - if not I'll email the cobblemonster to free it up?

  • Yes please I would love to officially participate.

  • pm'd

  • Replied and repped. Cheers

  • Thanks Tim for the reminiscing on Jah Shaka - Saw him once at the Holloway Rocket, must have been sometime between '91 and '94...can't be sure as the memorytapes were smudged by chemicals. All I remember is it was very very deep and very very LOUD. Did not know he was still going.

  • Did I ever see Jah Wobble in the Eighties? Possibly.

  • Greetings and love,

Well it's been another lovely weekend, so let us hope we are lucky in three weeks time..

Dave - you are most welcome re JAH Shaka.... happy memories and happy listening...

My training is coming along nicely - I managed two glasses of wine last night. Yes I know..... it was tough, but if you put in the training now, come the main event the training will pay off...

Peace and love to one and all,
    Tim

  • The brompton is back with its very chuffed owner, all thanks to a little red sticker.

As for the Canonbieberg its the swift follow up of the Muur Van Eleetsbergen (Eliot Bank) that aways kills me.
cobblemonster repped. this makes me happy

    damn, sorry to hear that.

    excited about this already :)

  • Likewise, but with some trepidation: my 37 mile ride down towards Westerham and then round via Eynsford on Sunday included some of the gentler North Downs inclines, and I really suffered on 39x23. 48x19 will see me walking some of the bergs, so I may gear down.

  • Just a note to you guys to remember to make a donation on the London Classics Virgin giving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/thelondonclassic-2014
Let ensure the day meets its target of £5,000

Also several people have contacted me about putting up signs for the ride the Saturday before if there is anyone else up for this please contact me. It works best if you can suggest yourselves in pairs I can sort handing out then.

If your able to help PM me

    Zebs

  • Right.

    I defo can't go.

PM me and you can pretend to be me and / or my +1. Usefully we both have androgynous names so gender is no obstacle.

  • Hefty are you offering to put up signs or not?

  • Greetings and love,

Well I mentioned training above and I have done some more. I really pushed myself last night and I managed three glasses of wine. It was a steady start and I knew I was in for the long haul. But I stayed focussed and managed to achieve 50% more than my last training session.
Feeling the burn a bit today, but pleased...

Hope all well and good luck as it's just over a fortnight to go.

    Give thanks,
    Tim

  • I am excite..
    TLC - April
    Flanders in May
    Norway in June
    North Yorkshire in September

  • Looking forward to this, but think I will bring gears. My fixed is in no way comfortable enough for cobbles and climbing.
