Greetings folks,
Did the Wards of City ride yesterday. There was plenty of pave about so it was a great reminder of what is to come for The London Classic.
Peace and love,

Just seen this this picture of Canonbie Road D:
I'll bring along a comfortable pair of walking shoes.

That's the wrong (shorter/steeper) side, isn't it? And it looks much friendlier with smiling faces grinding their way up it.

Does anyone plan to bring some oxygen?

Unless I'm mistaken, that is the descent side.

Descent side eh.
So the chairlift is on the other side then?
-

Yep, the sunshine tells me that's the descent to Honor Oak Road, where brakless will be put mightily to the test.

• #234
I never descend that street except by walking, not even geared with two brakes.

The sunshine is how I came to that conclusion too :D

...and sunshine will no doubt grace this ride.
I'd better check we've not used up our factor 30 suncream over the last few months.

I almost had a heart attack on to read further and thankfully discover that I do not have to go up that hill.
This pleases me greatly.

Canonbie road is a trial on the side you do climb, esp the speed bumps!

It is pretty hairy

Going down it brakeless is definitely an experience me and indra will probably won't do again!

I have images of you two descending by facing up the hill, locking, in a forwards motion but skidding backwards....

WAT!
I was trying to calm myself down and make myself feel better ffs.
Might have to reccy this hill and see what all the fuss is about before I experience it for the first time... -

I strongly suggest that is a bad idea...

Agreed, it's much easier to ride up when you have good company to converse with.
-
• #247
It's much easier to walk up when you have an oxygen tank in your rucksack.

It's much easier to try ride up, then walk up when you don't really know what you're in for...

Pushed a pram up that hill, nearly killed me. This does not bode well.

Me. Last year. This year, walking up with oxygen tank.
Cool ... hope the owner & bike are reunited!
