  • There we go , you get the idea....

    Give thanks,
    Tim

  • For the black clothed wearing stealth types

  • For HoKe and all the other Rapha / Sky fans

  • I thought the event line-up was fine. Longer races would have been nice, but the shorter races did enough to fragment the bunch and provided plenty of leg-stretching; I doubt adding 4/6/8 laps onto anything would have changed the first 3 people over the line.

I'd rather get more short fun things done than gradually chip away at dimi's/ho's/whoever's break over 10k, and that's coming from someone who hates sprinting and does quite well at longer things.
It's just a bit of fun on the track, innit.

    (pursuits are definitely not fun)

  • Track league does mostly 12/10 lap races as well, if you want to long ones go to the grupetto open season to do the roadman 25 (never again...)

  • Just to echo what everyone else has said...

Doing ITT's or TTT's takes farking ages to organise and makes for a pretty dull spectacle. There is a reason why it only happens once or twice a year at track league.

I would say that adding laps to the races would actually only underline the existing selection. The strongest riders will always finish first in a small field as even with the two categories there is quite a wide range of ability and fitness.

  • The other thing I wondered would be a smaller Cat A, and either a B/C division, or else a North/South B (or something else entirely arbitrary) - but I guess again that might take up too much time as another set of races to run

  • I felt the chosen races were the perfect length.

  • Cat 'A' had 12-14? Riders. Hardly massive.
I also think the chosen races were perfectly suited...

There should maybe be some who can straddle the Cats if a bit too good for b or slightly too slow for a?

nah, as someone in the mid of cat A I was alright knowing I wasn't going to win anything, no-one was wildly out of their league, it was just a matter of trying to do as best as possible (and beating Sven).

  • I think sumo sums it up well, even as someone who was at the bottom of 'A'.

  • Maybe there should be some extra prizes or incentive for all those in Cat A next time.

It was nice not being in the slow/unfit/lazy Cat B group, but I had to help myself to a couple of t-shirts as prizes after the sandbaggers took some neat prizes for their results for (possibly) going slower than I did. I just want a taste of victory...

    ?! Had to? >>>
Way to undermine everyone who actually rode for their prizes. Next time I fancy a prize I'll just join in the scrum at the end, fuck the whole pedalling lark.

The sandbaggers (were there any, really (Branwen excluded, due to administrative oversight), this time?) will have to live with their shame.

But seriously, lucky to get prizes at all. 'Moar prizes' is completely unnecessary.

  • Thought we were all in it for th lols?

  • I was in it for the lols!
    jealously guards prize pile

  • Ha!

I needed something to show for my misjudged efforts. Going to early on the Scratch race and getting overtaken by 11 or 12 people in the last 100m and then leading out the Cat A minor Keirin after no one wanted to take the Derny's wheel and finishing back in 5th. I felt I brought something to the party...

I really enjoyed the day. It was good to actually do some racing instead of training on the track. Moar prizes is never unnecessary.

  • Just to reiterate - I loved the day and can't wait for august - all this chat, at least on my behalf, is in no sense criticism of an ace event

  • It was nice not being ... slow/unfit/lazy

  • So I should expect some goodies from firebox for the one in August?

I see what you did there. But I was lumped in the same category as you. :)

I'll see what I can do. (probably get hold of some out of date chocolate...)
