  • Two crashes today at inters:
Second one was literally half a lap after when a coach (Jo) and rider touched wheels and crashed during rotations and I think the coach was in really bad shape (possibly something broken when walking back to the track)

Joseph has broken his collar bone. Poor thing :(
    Anyone know the rider involved?

  • I was so slow during the initial 10 laps qualifiers that I didn't even have to sandbag.

It was actually a struggle to finish them.

Great day overall, I had to leave early so didn't get to see the podium / trophies and so on.

Thanks for Amey / Laner for organising it, much appreciated.

(Mainly interested in a picture of the Champagne prize so I can instagram it for the business)

  • Greetings folks,

Well what a top day out. The weather was great, I had a lovely view of all the LFGSS top athletes whizzing round by the finishing line.

Then had the pleasure of chatting with some forum legends in the stands.

Er then before heading back home, and this is the don't tell anyone bit................. I did a lap of the track. Yes I know nearly 46 years old and what a rebel....

So had a really great day out.

Many thanks to the organisers, many thanks to the riders, many thanks to the spectators.

    Peace and love,
    Tim

  • Wish I could've made it down, sounds like a great day was had by all. I'll be at the next one with a fancy new frame, a full night's sleep and without my beergut (hopefully).

  • Always good to see that bike of yours, Jah Tim - thanks for the support!

Great photos on the other page. Glad to see my desperation to finish fourth in a Cat B Keirin was captured so well.
Also nice to see that many of the spectators bikes were more rare, pricey and flash than many of the racers haha!

  • Was it my lack of competitiveness but I don't recall doing any actual group racing the whole day. Followed the odd wheel but no actual group cycling, taking half laps, rotation and such.

Don't recall anyone making a breakaway solo effort which suggests noone else was riding tactically either.

Next time can we make the make the races a little longer so its not such a sprint fest?

20 lap sprint race qualifier for starters.

    :(

  • I was going to say, in the b's one of the Nlbcgsvtbscc riders(could well be tommmmmmmmm) tried to solo TT the whole points race, only caught in the last 2 laps.

I tried to break out but dimi, 6pt and ho quickly caught up.
Did that strava trace get taken out of interest?

  • to[m]*7 in the B devil I think. And quite a few of the B's worked together in the Hare&Hounds

  • Excellent day out ( apart from some sunburn ). Thanks to all involved!

Great to see track bikes being used properly, rather than simply argued about :-)

    This is at least arguable.

    Oops. :)

I wouldn't totally agree with this, there was pretty nice tactical racing here and there on the track on Sunday.

Tommmmmm had his solo effort in the devil, I tried my best in an surprise solo attack on the final two laps of the points race in the A's and in the B's there was Moden and another forum rider that broke away from the group and gather as much points as they can, plus I think there was definitely a lot of initial solo breaks in the hare and hound race in the A's whilst chasing the other group.

Also this was probably my fault but I think there was some pretty good group riding at the front during the first scratch race to separate the Cat A's and B's.

In regards to longer races, the forum only had 4 hours on the track so do 20 laps just for qualifier might be a little too long, if we want to get a lot more events in that time schedule, (unless the next one you just want only three or four events for just longer distances) hence probably why we had the sprints event, though saying that the only sprint event we have this year was really the keirin and I think maybe you think the event was mainly sprints was because of the minor and major finals of A's and B's.

Overall compared there last year, I think this year's level of racing has definitely improved and was a lot more serious in both men and women.

  • I would like a longer race - but tommy assuming you are better at the longer stuff, if the qualifying race is the only long race then you are more likely to end up in Cat A (yay!) racing short stuff against Ho/Dan/Dimi/Tom (boo!)

  • The reason tommy doesn't recall any group riding is because he constantly got dropped off the back at the start of every race...

For the record I'm a sprinter and hated anything more than 5 laps!

  • Would there be interest in a team-pursuit type race? Even just as a time-trial, might give us diesel engines something to look forward too - or again would that take up too much track time of the 4 hours?

  • would give me a chance to bring the orlowski out, deal.

You can just ride around the top while the real races take place below the black line. :)

(For the record, I'm not a sprinter, either.)

Probably, though if people are interested in TT, then maybe individual TT (2 laps of the track) would probably be more fair on others and therefore don't need to hassle of getting a team ready and evening up the field. (pending on events and the amount people who signed up on the day)

  • Although more sprint events would be cool too :( the match sprint kinda thing we did last year was fun, a kilo tt could also be interesting.

  • Lol, match sprints are good as long it not as tactial as Cliveo's one...

  • Maybe a KiloTT as the qualifying event? Would be nice to get my arrobrs out :)

  • ^ Boast post!

  • Doing kilo tt takes forever, I'd be up for putting an Australian pursuits in next time.

  • Look this is in Herne Hill after all so..........................

Why can't we do some flower arranging........................... and the people who do the best arrangements get to the final?

    One I prepared earlier.....
