  • It's gotta be worth a stab at preserving the original paintwork imho. I did a couple of my Art Deco masters last week that were tatty, not quite as bad as that but nonetheless needed scraping off the blistering paint all over the place as well as a plethora of chips and scrapes. Walked out of the art shop with a bag full of enamel touch up paints in every colour under the sun.
Plenty of time spent touching up each colour one at a time and to be honest the intricate ad paint scheme makes it easier to disguise. I'm dead chuffed with the results and to be honest from a couple of meters away they look tip top.
Apart from a good few hours of my life I didn't really have much to lose

  • do you mean

    much too loose, or

    much to lose?

    confused of banburyshire

  • the touch ups look bang on there! i was going to replicate the decor, by getting it done by people who sprayed for the rabo team so are familiar with the right masking procedure, but is not cheap, airplane dream cx's in team decor are quite hard to find nowadays though, but the rabobank c50 cx ate the renovation budget

  • Thanks
    Post duly edited
Off now to cancel the interview for the lexicographer position tomorrow

  • rabobank c50 cx ate the renovation budget

A nice problem to have mind

  • Maybe a trip to the art shop for you too then until the time comes to bite the bullet and hand over the folding.
Out of interest what does it cost for a 'proper' job?

  • i'd be an age painting all the patches, also would have to layer up
a new rabobank decor is 500 euros

  • model shops is where i usualy go, humbrol type paint, just got purple car touch up paint for the super pui

  • That's not too terrible but would need a frame that justifies it. Yours would qualify I feel.
Humbrol and revell are indeed my weapon of choice.

  • well, the frameset stands me in about 150, and the pound against euro is good at the minute
sarroni red is difficult to find , so i've used nail polish there

  • this is finished build wise, got some good as new ambrosio evolution rims on veloce hubs, just waiting for the touch up paint now

  • looking good. once complete do you convey the whole bike to collectors?

  • i no understand,
    do you mean sell on?

  • got the 'chrome' job back, pics soon, not impressed tbh

  • loss of definition

weird smokey finish on top and bottom of head tube

120 pounds-1/3 of real chrome cost
    outcome-pay peanuts =get monkeys
will be stripped and done properly
also, apols for poor pic quality

  • shit mate, they trowelled it on :(

  • shit ay? the fella did put man hours in, and I should have known better, so paid him, grabbed it and did one,was just tryin' a 'ting really, if it worked I was going to try replicate the one the pope got for shits n giggles,
i'll probably get it done sometime next spring in NL, with the euro difference compared to getting it done here i should be able to balance out the cost lost

  • was it a spray tan booth?!?!

  • close, pretty much a two bob car respray/body work turnout
