Thanks. I'll have a look.

as far as I know shakedry is the only fabric which actually works in terms of waterproofing (not used it personally but going from all the testimonials of people who have.) all of the other rain jackets (including ones I have used) are varying degrees of OK-to-terrible. doesn't matter if it has DWR, taped seams etc it's going to soak through unless it's shakedry. not sure if there are other jackets out there (non-gore) which use shakedry and have a less aggressive fit
if I'm riding in the wet, I just use a gabba. I get wet but I stay warm at least, and the thing breathes so you don't stink (which is an issue I had with the rapha classic rain jacket.) sorry, know that probably doesn't help you

If you're not sold on the cut, get a slightly larger one. Shakedry is astonishing, actually keeps the rain out with no sweating inside - you won't be disappointed
FWIW, I have the C7 and bought a large initially but found it to be too baggy in riding position (fine if stood up) so sized down to medium

Search & State S1-J is also Schoeller C-change and I believe quite well reviewed. Been meaning to get one for a while but quite like the look of that PNS one as wel

This is sort of my conclusion from my research. So was willing to give it a try.
As to using a gabba. I'm thinking layers would minimize my packing and allow me to control my body temp further.

If you're looking for the least possible discomfort try shortening that audax by 2,000km
-
• #5158
This encourages me to keep it. It's not like I will use it when I'm not on the bike anyway.
I wish the c7 wasn't quite so pricey. A little bit of stretch in my jacket and I think I wouldn't consider changing it.

Well yes, that's what I do most days.

arcteryx norvan is the shakedry of trail running/hiking, with a hood.

WAWA?

Thanks. That's an interesting alternative although it adds quite a bit to the price.

Seems that C-change is good enough for the pro teams https://blog.katusha-sports.com/homepage/you-asked-us but again I have no first hand experience of it.

With the 20k/20k rating for waterproofness and breathability it's not even close to shakedry fabric and in the category of older style jackets that everyone hates and tries to avoid.
I think shakedry is 50k/80k. -
• #5165
Ahh, those were the sort of stats I was trying to find. That really is a huge difference! I guess in that case it really comes down to durability vs breathability.

proved perfect at 8 deg C on a 2.5hr ride

What size are you. I have a size L Parentini vita, worn once but too big.
Its an excellent bit of kit. Improvd version of the Mossa, whcih was labelled as the Gabba beater.

L would probably be a shade too small. According to their sizing I’m right at their top end of L

Anyone got experience of the Rapha gore tex pullover? Looks like it might work as a waterproof layer for bike packing/hiking
-
• #5170
These are shakedry and - relatively! - cheap (because discontinued?), and IIRC a looser fit (running jacket - don't know how the fit will work on a bike): https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/und6299/under-armour-accelerate-gore~tex-long-jacket/

Thanks!
I’m gonna wear the c5 riding and see how It feels. Keeping it would be the least annoying alternative.

Forum kit and caps anyone?

Stylish winter jacket recommendations? Warm, minimal branding, slim fit, maybe a subtle pattern or something so it doesn't look like a bog standard block black mamil top.
Rapha PT winter jacket looks like it ticks the performance box but is a little dull.

I got one of the new „van Rysel“ by Decathlon.
Does a mighty good job so far!Otherwise illd have gotten a Pns or Albion.
Are you looking for something packable that would fit in a jersey pocket? If not, PasNormal do a schoeller c-change jacket thats cut a little less "race fit". I can't comment on the waterproof qualities of schoeller vs goretex but it might fit the bill.
