Amey had some 44cm ergonovas for sale and so might Dammit.

Ta. Again, weighing up my options - was toying with the idea of buying some nicer 3T bars for the Nag (to match the stem) and using the FSA Veros for this. But that would require more work, and more money, and I'm lazy. The Deda RHM02 are only £20 or so.

Think amey has some ergonovas for sells?
I just got some for the condor and they are a real nice shape.
Also a fan of the RHM02 but the Ergonova may just pip them.

My one hesitation with the Ergonovas is whether it would be extra grief trying to attach light mounts to the ovalised tops. And I'd have two front lights on this bike most of the time.
-
• #31
They're no more ovalised than my RHM02s.
Also, there is a bit of un-ovalised on either side of the clamp area, probably enough to fit lights.

Hm, ok. Might be a go-er then.
Edit: thought the Dedas look round to me.

Good man. I really like my Pacer. Good frames, them.
-

The Deda's are slightly ovalised, believe. Maybe you have the RHM01s... RHM02s 100% semi ovalised
-
• #35
i have 01's and 02's only the 02s are ovalised

Cool - thanks all. Have a slight aversion to second hand bars but I might page Amey and see if the Ergonovas are still available.

Have dem for but sharpied graphics; currently on holiday back on 4th

I've got some generic shallow drop bars you can have for nowt- came on the boardman.
-
• #39
They're an orrible shape though.

Thanks all. I ended up going with the RHM01. Can't really argue for seventeen quid.
Everything except the frameset and the front derailleur is ordered now. Wiggle sold their last band-on 6600SL mech while i was dithering, sure I can find a suitable one though. [Edit: yeah, Sigma had it, four quid cheaper as well.]

Of course, I forgot a couple of small bits like inner tubes (I only have skinny ones) and headset spacers. Everything ordered now, just confirming the frame purchase tomorrow (they're giving me a price for framesaver-ing it, facing the headtube and installing the headset - decided to use the Cane Creek one by the way). Wheel bits should arrive in the next few days and then I'll get building. Went with Alpine III spokes on the rear and Comps on the front. Silver, didn't like the price premium for black. Plus from Bike24 the black ones come with alu nipples for some reason. Not a good idea for this bike.
Considering a light rear rack that can piggyback on the mudguard eyelets & brake mount - any suggestions?

Tubus fly is the only one i know of, it was too pricey for me so i stuck to p-clips.
-
• #43
Yep, that's what my googling last night led me to. It would really be for very light use in lieu of a backpack, so it would be ideal, but yeah, not cheap.
Going to try Sheldon Nuts this time instead of bodging the Chromoplastics.

they seem to solve a problem that i never thought i had, until i looked at them and now im certain i have the problem and i don't think i can live with it.
-

Heh. With the Chromoplastics on my Bob Jackson, I had to cut the top of the loop off and mount the front 'guard between the brake and the fork crown. I had it spaced out originally but it needed loads of room because it fouled the headset, and so it ended up far further forward than it should have been (reducing the effectiveness of the mudflap).
The rear one was a bit more straightforward but required drilling a hole through the mudguard as the bridge only had a downward-facing threaded boss (no brake boss).
These nuts should be a bit more of an elegant solution. I'll see how they look though.

If you find out what size p clips are needed please let me know! I'm having the same issue. Don't reaaalllyyyy want to fork out for the tubus fly...
-

^^ I think i bent the clip, or cut it off.
^ my mate gave me some p-clips from a rack he'd bought. Think it was a blackburn expedition.

for a rack that mounts to mudguard eyes and brake bridge I was previously recommended an axiom one sold by SJS Cycles.

It work well to carry an couple of panniers for the dunwich dynamo

Fly looks nicer. Might leave that decision for a while though.
Rims, hubs and cables have arrived. The purple Jagwire come with gold bloody cable end caps. Not on my watch, Jagwire. Think I have enough spare silver ones in the parts bin.

So, I've realised the Pacer will actually take short-drop brakes, I thought it was medium/long drop only. I happen to have a 6600 SL front brake in the parts bin as well so I might return the R650 rear and grab a matching BR-6600 SL rear, and banish any silver parts completely (well, apart from the spokes).
Only hitch is that 6600 SL brakes seem to be like hen's teeth suddenly. Anyone got one to sell?
The purple CK stuff is limited edition, supposedly, like the turquoise. In two minds about hanging on to it for some undefined future project. Purple is just the definitive '90s ano colour.
