Just to throw another frame option in to the mix, I'm looking at building a similar bike and have pretty much decided on the Soma ES, although I'd overlooked the Wide Open, I'll have to check how that sizes up for my fit.

That look good, as well as the smarter Stanyan.
I used Brixton Cycles to import the Soma San Marcos frameset for the girlfriend, Kinoko can too I think.
-
• #104
The Somas are definitely nice, sensible looking bikes but the Smoothie ES looked like it was going to be well north of £500.

Looks like I just missed all the last 56cm Pacers. Going with the Wide Open, assuming it's still in stock when f---ing Natwest finally get my replacement debit card to me…

Wide Open looks good.

I know it's of no interest to you now but for anyone else that needed something like it for a Pacer, Salsa do a seat post clamp which acts as a rack mount. Previously I'd been unable to find any that had 30mm diameters. Nice but pricey, mind. http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/components-c9/seat-clamps-c87/salsa-rack-lock-seat-clamp-p495

Did you pick a frame? Saw this on the bay and thought of this project. Probably beyond budget, but I wonder what it could be had for.

Lovely but way over budget, yeah.
Uh, so I STILL haven't got a frame. Kinoko are being a bit slow getting back to me, but it'll most likely be a Wide Open. Dragging my heels a bit, maybe because I'm a bit annoyed that I'm spending ~£150 more on the frameset than I intended to.
I have all the parts now.

Wide opens just landed in the UK pal... Including the new version with a carbon fork I think. All being well they should be in the shop tomorrow or Wednesday next week.
-
• #111
O rly. Any details? New colour?
I've also just seen the power's out at Kinoko today apparently, which would explain the radio silence…
-
• #112
Blue, from what I hear.
Yep it's been a hectic day! Call us tomorrow and we'll give you more details.
-
• #113
Ah, blue would be awesome. Ok, I'll wait and see…

Won a tidy-looking Singular Osprey frame off eBay for 200 & change, so I reckon that's that… Will wait for it to turn up and build the wheels in the meantime.
Spending nearly £500 on a frameset when I was originally looking at £335 was starting to irk me. This should do the job.

Nice find! I've ridden one with Campagnolo groupset, ride like a dream.
edit - Wiggle run out of the fork.

Cheers, yeah, it seems well-reviewed and I like the look of the details.
It's the full frameset, including fork and headset. Looks pretty tidy, seems a genuine case of someone deciding it was a bit small for them. Hat tip to bmx_fred for the link.

Threaded or threadless?
-
• #118
Threadless.
-
• #119
Even better, sound like it's the one with the 50mm rake fork.
-
• #120
Good frame. Nice one.
-
• #121
^^ Yes, I don't think it's the touring-specific fork.

Nice frame.
Sensible geometry, plenty of bolt-on options, very good dropouts.
Everyone should own a bike like this.
-
• #124
Exceedingly sensible. Fit for purpose.
The relaxed seat tube means I don't think the layback post I have is going to work, so I picked up a Deda inline one, which was on pretty decent offer (45% off), from Wiggle. I then also picked up a cheap Deda stem, for no reason other than matching the rest of the finishing kit.
Must build these wheels now.

Actually, I say relaxed, it's 73°/73°. Just that the Wide Open has a 74° seat tube which would have been fine for me with a layback.
Also, shout out to the 75mm BB drop. I wholeheartedly approve.
Road calipers (either short or medium drop) is a requirement.
