Testing would actually provide a better indication of form than racing, with all it's variables, missed chances, crashes etc etc. When you're fit you're fit.
That said, given that Porte is ex-tri, it's entirely likely he will fall off whilst thinking about where on the Sky bus he left his jogging sneakers.

He's not down to ride the Tour this year. Valverde will lead Movistar instead.
Have you already got your GO ALEJANDRO t-shirt and giant No.1 foam finger ready for Yorkshire yet, Andy?

Piss orf.. He's Aussie and we are all made to do dumb shit like trihardathons. What's G's excuse? Is the Rum Fart the first race he's actually finished without ending up in the bushes somewhere? Actually that reminds me, Farrar was in the final Giro sprint and didn't crash or even seem to do anything dumb to take someone else out. WTF?

Wiggo on tattoos was the worst:

The next project is a knight on my chest. I told him I wanted something to commemorate my knighthood and then we worked off each other about what a design would look like. We’ve come up with an angelic knight in armour based on Henry V, who was the first English king to conquer France. That held comparisons with my Tour de France win and then off that we did some floral stuff around it. I’ve also had '101' engrained on the back of my arm as that was my race number from the Tour. The idea then is to get a George and the Dragon piece on the other side.

Now he neither wins OR causes crashes, its hard to even remember farrar is actually there. Speaking of invisible sprinters, what's happened to Goss?

No Jimmy, I am not saying he is doping.
You need to take your best team, not your best riders, to the Tour. It would be silly to deny that Wiggins is emotional, volatile and unpredictable. He's achieved great things and he has had great failures. If having him on the team is a risk then a 'lesser' rider might be of more use. It's just sentiment to say he should be there because he is an ex-winner and cycling is not a sentimental sport.
I can imagine what advice Greg Lemond would give about taking a potential rival with you, however many assurances you have been given.this.
Wiggins would be an asset to any team but he is a team leader, not really much of a workhorse. can you really see him turning himself inside out on the approaches/lower slopes of big climbs and then dropping off to see Froome, Porte, Sivtsou and Kiriyenka riding off into the distance?Although hes an epically dull rider (I much prefer Froome), he still has the ability to podium in the Tour (though I seriously doubt he could win it) if he had a team riding for him. He should go to OGE or Garmin next season and have another crack

Is it even a bite when it's me responding? You lot should know I don't ignore stuff, I either see it and respond or I didn't see it.
I am running into 000s of calories deficit though so tonight's dinner will be le smashed.

I don't think it'll be Garmin, wasn't there some tension with Vaughters about him leaving before?

Wiggins should be at the Tour. Froome is making himself look like a clown, again.
-
• #2399
He is genetically predisposed to look like a clown, you racist.
I would imagine Movistar would give him carte blanche next year to race what he wants, and put the entire team behind him, while ushering the old war horse Valverde around the back of the barn and shooting him.
At least that is what I hope happens.
