Vandenbergh rode a very good race, he played the role of a loyal teammate in going with GVA and trying to neutralise him. It's a shame none of his more celebrated team mates were able to stay with Cancellara and Vanmarcke when they went.

Criticising him is unfair, he did the job that was asked of him.

If Vandenbergh could sprint he'd be a monster.

Just heard on Twitter that the Vansummeren crash lady is in an induced coma and in need of brain surgery. :-(

DS' strict orders, indeed. Vandenbergh commented after the race that he was feeling uncomfortable not taking his turn at the front.

I think mr. Lefevere will replay this final in his head over and over again for a while, 5 riders in control almost all the time and not 1 on the podium...

Don't know what the marshals were thinking letting people stand in the middle like that-dangerous for everyone and the force of impact reflects that. Total nightmare.

On a lighter note, watching Fabs trying to sprint is hilarious. Total diesel behemoth.

Just watched on Sky Plus after avoiding the temptation to find out who won. So tense.

That acceleration on the Oude Kwaremont is what I watch cycling for.

I was willing Kristoff to get across but couldn't be happier with the result.
