  • me too, actually

  • I also have a spare ticket I can pass on at £55 if anyone's interested?

  • Signed up today. 70 squid including camping (and you stick your car next to the tent) seems pretty cheap/easy

err, don't think that you do now.

Mentions separate car park and wheelbarrows provided to help carry stuff from car park to camping field.

  • so who's going to this? i've just got a press ticket through work but don't really fancy riding on my lonesome :/ - doing the 50mile route at a casual pace anyhow if anyone fancies riding with me

I stand corrected, though I'm sure I read somewhere (once) that the cars would be parked next to tents?!

  • Parking on site was the original plan but the fire marshall or somesuch vetoed it.

  • I'd really like to ride, have the ticket and all, but 1 thing remains as an issue...
    No bike.

  • that is a problem... Take your fixie skidder and do the 30 mile course? I think that's allowed, though kinda missing the point.

  • I was originally going to try and man up and ride it for the full-length course. Route's excellent value. Will have to see.

You tart , man up and do the 100....:):)

  • I'll be there doing the 100 at a casual social pace (well, as quick as I can go on a vintage 4 speed hub)

  • Anyone doing the Retro Ronde??
    100km - Sunday june 15th start at 10h30

    – 1275m ascend
    – 19 climbs
    – 8km cobbles
    – 1700m gravel
    – 4 food stops

Good Shake down for Eroica Brittania

  • you're a glutton for punishment tony!

Hey 7VEN. I'll be doing exactly this too on the Rory I used for the Cambridge ride a few weeks ago. Nice and slow and get to the finish alive is my plan.

It would be good to hook up as I was supposed to be camping with the family and riding with Mrs Hefty but they've ditched me in favour of a christening so I'll be a bit lonely.

I plan to get there Saturday lunch time.

I think the 100 and 50 run together for a good while at the start.

I'm going in a [period correct] camper.

Let's see how they deal with that shit.

    ^My plan too

There is a market the day before to stock up on a wool jersey right? Still haven't found one to wear.

  • I'll be there with the hairynic!
I've just finished my '71 Mercian with dubious bits/hacks.
Would be nice to meet up with peeps.
Look out for the midget magenta mercian & forum cap.

  • I'm doing the 50 on an Orange Continental (http://www.lfgss.com/thread107598.html) in full Peugeot get-up..

Some swanning around the campsite in Orange & White Bic Top & forum cap too I expect..

    Do say Hi!

  • come on tony, lets ride together like old times ;) man up and do the 50 leaving more time for drinking

  • Myself and BillundBen will be doing the 50. I shall be on a pink and black Woodrup and BillundBen will be riding a 1950's Hetchins. Say hello if you see us!

Don't want to tempt fate but the long range forecast doesn't look too bad for next weekend... Can't wait!

Like London and rats, you're never more than a few feet away from a rain shower in the Peak District.

That's OK by me though. 100 miles of hills in the 25 degree sun might end me.

    Nice one Hefty,
I'm heading up with daughter & girlfriend on Friday afternoon after school finishes.
I've got your number still and think you've got mine so drop me a message when you get there. Keen to see this VW of yours!

Hope they have jerseys for sale as I've been pretty slack finding anything.

I'll be on my 1947 Hobbs of Barbican (maybe in a stripey retro Orbea jersey but hopefully someting cooler purchased onsite) and maybe a Brixton Cycles cap....

Cool, yep - I still have it.

Your family clearly like you more than mine like me. :(

If you've built my camper up to be something special, I fear you may be disappointed. Though it does have nice stripey curtains.

  • So is the 30 mile a total joke? Are you allowed to change which route you take at the last moment?
Also, anyone want a spare junior ticket for this, I have one you can have.

  • Fintan, you can change, and for me the 30 mile seems a bit of a waste. The 55 miler is going to be tough with 1.8km of climbing but you've got all day and there are three refreshment stops...

If I survive this one, and it's well run etc, then next time I'll consider the 100 miles.

I'll be with Mands on a shiney green bodge job Raleigh from about 1995, hopefully they won't notice the suspicious frame under the 'vintage' components. Wearing either a team Raleigh banana or a Belgian 'Ronde' wooley top.

Really looking forward to this now, some of the views on streetview are awesome.
