tubes generally are a fair bit less than that, pretty sure you can get a set of zona tubes for a full frame under 200 or so

Bjorn- yeah, I think it would have been a sad end for this if I'd rattle-canned and magic-geared it, then killed it as a rusty around-town beater.

The seat tube/top tube lug split when Matt was removing the seat tube, Matt has remade it, using a mixture of a sheaf and fillet brazing:

I've changed my mind on the wheels for this- instead of those carbon clinchers I'm going to go for Ambrosio Nemesis on Ultegra 6800 hubs.
The cf clinchers are for sale in the usual place.

How come?

if you're ordering from bike discount dot de I need to get 2 bidons which only those guys are selling but dont want to pay for shipping, they're about £2.50 each, let me know.

How come?
I did Paris-Roubaix last year on clinchers and got 2 pinch flats.
I want to do it next year using specific P-R tubs, with sealant in them.

really?

I'd like to do it without the drama we had last year, and a bit faster.
I was woefully ill-prepared last time, and my bike basically beat the shit out of me for 132 miles.

Makes sense any particular reason for the Nemesis? Because they've got an established rep?
Are you tempted by something a bit wider if you're trying to go for a bigger tyre? Or does it not make the same difference to tyre profile as with clinchers?
EDIT: Just realised that they're 21mm so probably the Goldie Locks of tub width [guessing].

FMB P-R tubs would look good.

Does this mean you'll use the Serotta for P-R. Or are you just putting wheels on it which would also be wheel suited to P-R.
Both make a lot of sense to be fair.

Fair enough. I learnt my lesson.

They would look superb. Pricey though.

Although you could do it on the H.G.Wells running 27mm Paris-Roux Dugast/FMB tubs.
First world problems.....

Where do you purchase FMB from Andy?

Before all the pro's went carbon the Nemesis was the P-R rim, my thinking is that they are therefore pretty thoroughly tested on Pave.
As you point out, being 21mm wide the Nemesis can handle very wide tubs. The question becomes what will fit in the frame, possibly a 25 being the limit.
I agree that 70 really sounds pretty cheap for that tube but is it really ?
I have no experience with buying tubes of any kind but lets say all 4 tubes for maintriangle is 70. Rear triangle another 150 or so thats 430 + lugs, lets say 150 for those. Then theres a fork as well, lets say thats another 150. That puts my uneducated guesses for material at over 700 not including any labor ofc.
Like T-V says, they would look pretty foolish if they tried to sell tubes needlessly expensive for frames that were once covered by a lifetime warranty.
Im really excited to c this completed. Its really great you decided to rescue it from an early retirement.
