Looking at those numbers I'm not sure we're gonna have enough people to do the job...
Let's put things on hold for now...

I'd love to help, but Monday and Tuesday are not good for me. Got other shit on.

No worries, man... It's gonna be tough to get things done in the week, people have shit on, I realise that...
-
• #105
same here, would love to help but those days are out for me really, I can only get to HH for 7ish on both days... :(

I thought you was doing it on the 21st of this month ? Thread: 2013-09-21 Herne Hill Polo Court Build?
I can help on weekends and after work on weekdays!

• #107
on hold until when? Really, we need to move the wood over a weekend, during the week there will never be the numbers. Is there no chance we can move the stuff this weekend?
-
• #108
Do we know the optimal court size for the space yet?
We need to make sure we have enough uprights and that we don't mess up the amount of boards we paint.
If someone can tell me how big the space is I can have a headscratch.

This weekend seems to be no good, HH came back to me with availabilty for today, Monday and Tuesday... I guess we'll have to wait 'til the 21st, lots of polo stuff going on every weekend until then...
Tim, the court is 39m x 18m... 38 x 3m lengths, is that right? I'm going by the court document we've been sending out...

Why not make it bigger? 39m x 18m is about the size of Downs (a little small).
-
• #111
I think the best solution will be to rebuild the main court at this year's LO which IIRC is much wider than 18 but I could be wrong. That said, one of the sides was attached to the fence hence we would need to build some A frames too. Also is HH alright with us putting screws into the tarmac to hold the A frames?

Absolutely, what size do we want?
I did make this point further back but nobody piped up...

I did make this point further back but everybody ignored me.

I should just get Jono to make my points for me from now on.

So if we can't move the boards until the 21st, is it worth relooking at getting them painted while at Ryan's as discussed earlier?

Sorry, Kev... Must've jumped over that one...
You guys decide what size you want it to be and we'll do that...
Dave, I think there's gonna be a space/PITA issue at Ryan's place... I don't wanna piss off Ryan's neigbours...

How big is the space at HH? We need actual dimensions before we make any decisions. There needs to be enough space left for the uprights to sit on solid ground. Also quite a lot of the uprights have been split so we need to make sure we have enough wood.
Me and Ryan spoke to the neighbours and they said it was cool as long as we tidy up after ourselves. They are my neighbours too and I'm happy to deal with it.

The uprights for the 2 smaller courts were split up but the ones for the main court were not.

OK, let's knock up a list for availability... And please put down if you're prepared to drive the van...
I think tomorrow is too short notice so let's go with Monday and Tuesday...
I'll look into getting the paint, brushes and rollers... How much paint do you think we'll need?

The total space is 39m x 36m with an extra 2m or so for access along the south side...
Massive image of it here...

I can help Monday and Tuesday probably, can't drive nuffin though. Is the plan to start moving stuff? or paint stuff also?
-
• #123
Ummm, dunno if this is any help but I have an estate car and some availability during the week. Joe, give me a call if I'll be useful.
No polo, no talk.

What you doing Tuesday morning, my very good, and incredibly well dressed, friend?
-
• #125
So how about…
Before 21st = fix court size, build any uprights that need doing etc, paint boards (as long as it's cool with Tim's/Ryan's neighbours)
On 21st = move everything to HH, build court, play polo!
Herne Hill is pretty close to me (and so is depford if you want the nets collecting?) I can only help out weeknights and possibly the weekend you first mentioned.. Have some power tools and a good DIY brain on my shoulders too!
Sounds like a cool project, will this be a dedicated court we can use at any time then?
